The question has been asked and answered on how everyone feels about listing or not listing or Santa checking the list twice and so on.
SO heres a thought that has come to mind and been asked but not really much in the way thoughts throw out of it. If the list or don't list really doesn't matter at this point in time, most people that are going to buy these have pretty much already bought them and the sales going on now are really just people mainly buying a second, thord or so on that I have noticed (just my opinion on sales). So what would happen if the Dems got what they wanted and where able to put through another ban on AR/AK firearms? If there was another federal ban and they said these were AWs, what would the state then do about all this? I know there is no facts of what would happen but what about peoples feeling on this?

The current compositon of the Fed Senate/Congress would most likely not allow another AW ban to pass. While some seats changed parties, generally progun seats stayed progun seats - in fact, we may have gained one or two progun Dems.
If a Fed AWB were to recur it'd most likely not be any worse than the orig 94 ban.
In 1994 we put a lot of dead electoral meat on the table, including Speaker of the House. That sh*t gets remembered.
This does not mean we don't watch, monitor, and write if even the remotest sign of one pops up...

Yes, even with the Dems in 'control' now, they are in a worse position. Now they think "they're in control" and if they're not careful the uber-leftists will yell and scream and unit cohesiveness will go down the toilet, thereby giving the conservatives a better chance at taking back control in 2008. 1994 was a sore year for the gun-grabbers, and yes, they'll remember it when it comes time to actually vote on such nonsense.

I feel that any updated ban would be almost a word-for-word rip of SB23, so it wouldn't really change matters for the state.
However, CA might, in a few years, try and say that they SHOULD be more restrictive than the Feds, and if the Feds are just as tight as they are, then CA needs to become NY...

So we know federal laws overwrite state laws(for sake of simplicity, lets stick w/ this assumption).
Let's assume a new fed ban goes in effect that essentially names our OLLs AWs.
So now what? I mean on a federal level, we would have AWs, even though they are legal on a state level.

Then we would have just that. AW’s under the federal law that were legal in their current configuration in CA. Even if we had to register them federally, that would not make it so that we could ignore SB-23. In short, a federal ban may make it so that we could not get anything new, but unless I am missing something big, it would not change anything else for us here.

The thing about all of these gun laws is that they never really elimiante the guns, they just ban future possession. So I will be interested in seeing how the liberals stop OLLs without allowing them to be built up. At the same time it will be interesting to see how they explain to the courts that this rifle can't be built this way, but this can and how is a citizen supposed to ever figure out the difference. The nice thing about all of this hoopla is a complete overturn of SB23 could be in the works or better yet a final Supreme Court case to decide the whole thing.
How awesome would it be to have a court case that throws all this bull crap out and I can order full auto MP5s for $2000 the next day? Pipe dream I know.

Correct. Registering them federally would allow you to own them in the U.S., but, in Kaliforniastan, it would still fall under SB23, which does not make it an assault weapon if it has a pinned mag or no evil features. Registering it federally will protect you on the federal level and SB23 will protect you on the state level.

There will not be any registering of AW's with the Federal Government for a long, long time...if ever. Registration will always be accomplished on a state by state basis which is good enough if Federal confiscation is ever attempted.
