Governator and OLL

I keep seeing references in different threads about the governator passing something that will not allow any more lowers to be added to the list. Is this just people having the wrong information or did something happen that I did not hear about?

Inquiring minds want to know.

As I understand it. As of January 2007 the DOJ loses the ability to add to the list. It turns this over to the courts. The DOJ pushed for this. They did not want to have the authority.

No, courts cannot declare new AWs either. A gun is or isn't an AW by name or by features suite, and that's it. A court can determine if a given gun is or isn't an AW by these standards, but it cannot be requested (after Jan 1) via a 12276.5 motion to add new makes/models to the list, and the DOJ cannot add new "series" guns to the list.

Good because people will still be able to buy lowers and built fixed-mag or gripless rifles.

Bad because we're gonna be stuck with fixed-mag or gripless rifles.

Heck, I'd rather have a working AR or AK with castration, neutered, spayed, surgery, whatever to make it legal in this state than NOT having an AR or AK at all! :rolleyes:
