CMMG, Stag, Spikes or BCM will fit your budget.

This Stag and BCM thing is getting old. Any of the ones 762. said are fine. All good brands.

Throw Daniel defense in there, you can find them here and there in your budget.

I have liked my Stag uppers. Liked my Addax piston one as well. Heck, even my first AR with a Model1 upper never failed on me. Overall I'd vote for Stag though. It's the one I've purchased multiple times.

Stag makes a good upper. Lots of guys use and seem to like delton uppers. Rock river arms also makes a great upper.

here is what I have found after building a few rifles from ground up:

You are better off buying a complete one, like a stag, to start. You'll get a quality upper and the complete package will cost less than pieces.

That being said, Stag, CMMG, or even Delton(A complete kit with chrome lined barrel can be had for less than 540 dollars, shipped).

at that price it has a lot of features that you dont typically see on an upper in that range that and im big on going mid length gas vs carbine just my .02

I'd check out Gunbroker. I picked up my RRA 16" HBAR complete upper for $390 shipped. Still doing great without a single problem.

Do you still contribute in a positive way around here or do you just post nonsense?

OP, the CMMG will serve you fine. And, like pyro mentioned, BCM is a great company to look at as well!

I would look for a S&W MP15 Sport. They are only $699 @ Turners. That equals $600 for the upper and only $100 for a complete S&W lower. :)

about 50/50 these days, but point taken I've had my fun

I have a CMMG upper on my spikes tactical lower, they make a very good upper. Stag is another good one in the price range and as mentioned before BCM if you feel like sippin' on the kool-aid.

BCM if you feel like sippin' on the kool-aid.

Nothing kool-aid about it. Just a bunch of haters that think its cool to hate on anything else successful and popular. Let me guess. You think Apple, Magpul, and Call of Duty are all kool-aid too

Call of Duty, yep.

I have an iPhone and some Magpul stuff, so I WON'T HEAR ANYTHING BAD SAID ABOUT THEM!!!!

But Call of Duty, yep, absolutely. Lots of Kool-Aid. Horrible stuff.
