:patriot::patriot:Hey I was wondering if any of you have gotten your hands on one of Lucid's 2x-5x variable magnifier's. I have searched for reviews and have not found much luck, I also searched the forums here and did not find anything although I dont think I am using the search function to its capibility.

I was also wondering if anyone know's the best mounting option for putting a magnifier behind my Eotech EXPS3-0 I think the Larue QD LT755 will work but I know the EXPS line sits a little higher than the other Eotech models as it comes with the quick detach mount under it. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

You might get better results by posting this in the optics forum.

That magnifier just came out, didn't it? I doubt you'll find any reviews for a while.

I just ordered one and will pair it with an ADM swing mount and EOTech 557 BDC (same as EXPS 3-4) so will let you know how it turns out.

I run a 7x magnifier behind an EOTech 517. I also have a 6-20x44 scope on my other AR. If you want magnification you're better off with a scope. Just my opinion.

thanks for the review. I just placed my order this morning. I hope I don't have the same issues you saw.

Jason dropped me an email this morning so I sent him the magnifier to look at. Btw, he's outta town until next week so I'm out a magnifier until then. Disappointing for sure.

Thanks everyone for responding. And thank you Superset for the link. I am a little wary of the Lucid Magnifier after reading the review as it looked like it had issues out of the box. However it is a new product so maybe they just need to work the kinks out.

Hey all

I went in a read the review again and one portion that stuck out to me was

"d. The eye relief.. is problematic. Not in the usual way, though. At 2X, the eye relief is way too long at 4". If you are a NTCH shooter, you're going to have issues getting a proper sight picture at 2X. I recommend using this magnifier at 3X or higher. At 5X, the eye relief is almost perfect at 2.5".

Anyone who has used the Eotech 3x or 4x how is the eye relief on those?? I am still trying to make a decision between the Lucid variable magnifier and one of the Eotech Magnifiers.

Thanks

I've had the EOTech 4X and the eye relief is similar to a full-sized ACOG model (TA01, TA31) at about 1.5-2.0". A little short but workable. I think the AimPoint magnifier, although very expensive, has the perfect eye relief at around (2-2.5"). The VorteX VMX3 is also a good choice for 3X. Since you have a non-BDC model, I'm not sure why you'd want anything above 3X anyways.

Also, Jason is sending me another unit as a replacement so hopefully, that should solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply very helpful. And please excuse my lack of experiance but what is a non-BDC model??

BDC = Bullet Drop Compensator. Only the EOTech 557 and EXPS 3-4 have a BDC. The other EOTech models have the traditional EOTech reticule (1 MOA dot + 65 MOA circle).
