So can I get some opinions?

I went shooting this past weekend. I have a serpa holster for my beretta and magazines. SO...when I was shooting my AR I didnt have any kind of system for reloads similar to that of my serpa holster, and now Im trying to figure what to do. I dont want to put magazines in my pockets!

What kind of magazine pouch or carrier would you recommend that is similar to the quickness of the blackhawk pistol magazine holders that can fit on a belt?

Another question I have is whatever this system might be, and being that the AR magazines are larger than pistols, how is it to reload from the belt as opposed to a vest or some kind of thigh MOLLE rig setup?

I want to eventually take a carbine course and want to have an ideal setup before I do.

Thanks for any advice.

When it comes to speed/tactical reloads, place your spare magazines where YOU will find it most beneficial. This type of carrier can be mounted on your belt or on a vest (Molle)

This video is pretty good for showing these "fastmags" mounted on a belt AND a larger belt - like a Battle Belt - as a method besides a vest. You will see several styles of stacked mag holders (pistol and AR) as well as the fastmags. Fastmags are next on my list to buy a few and try as I have been eyeballing them for a while.

The vid isn't working. I'd like to see it. I have a ton of molle stuff because I have a buddy who had a business and he ended up moving to Washington. I have vests belts pouches of all kinds, holsters etc. I usually just use a belt with 2 pouches.

Very cool. I like the idea of using any belt holster. I do not like the drop legs. That belt with any kydex holster and some mag pouches and You are set. Any bdu belt will work. You do not have to buy the "cobra" belt.

I made my own using old ALICE gear, but if you want store bought stuff, look at the BCM 03. Its light, plenty of space and you can hook a hydration system to it. Couple of mag pouches are nice, but you get more than 1 or 2 an the weight is pulling your pants down...LOL Fine for standing in one spot, but if you are going to be moving around a bit you need suspenders of some kind.

I actually use the bladetech and couldn't be happier. Have it on a mil auto pistol belt. Diesel is right though about having more than 2.

I just bought a vest, it has 4 pouches that hold 2 mags each, i had a drop let holster for my hand gun but now have the handgun in the vest with the 5 mags for it and the 8 mags for the AR and when i am feeling really crazy i have the drop leg hooked the vest to hold my other hand gun with its 2 mags. It does get kinda heavy so i try to limit how much i hold on it. But the vest is much better then the belt for me as i always had issues getting my pants to stay up without the belt being so tight it hurts. now with the vest none of those issues occur anymore ad when you want to take it off its just one zip away. i use it when camping mostly on BLM land and we hike a bit to our range from the camp site. just my thoughts.

That sounds like you have a nice setup. I dont think I need to carry that much ammo. Where is the BLM land where you shoot?

I still think the BCM 03 (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-03-MSF-Chest-Harness-s/124.htm) is the best system out there right now.

@ $180..yeah its expensive, but this level of quality cost money to make. I am sure some Airsoft company will make one, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it fall apart while humping the back 40....LOL

another good option are these. They hold magazines both directions, so if you're not sure if you like bullets facing front or back, these are a good way to try out.

Another option is a Red-Mag. It puts another magazine on your weapon, and if you're left handed, it makes magazine changes incredibly easy.

I've been using this chest rig made by the guys at Ares Armor-- real good quality kit made by former Marines in Oceanside.

yeah i dont need to carry that much either but when i go out i go with some military guys and a combat load for them is 7 mags. on a weekend trip we will set up a course with different targets, hostages, walls and what not. and also just because we can. we go to a few different spots there is a place out in palm springs and calico are the 2 most common places we go.

Thats the best kind of shooting in my book. Its like drag racing vs touring vs track.

There are shooters who love to sit down with a calculator, spotting scope and a target so far away its in the next zip code...There are other shooters who love standing, sitting, crouching at the ready line and blasting the living hell out of a target 50-100 yards away... then there are those of us who like strapping on a Camel-bak, 200-500 rounds and getting lost in the mountains, Doing some team-drills and stopping mid-day to shoot a rabbit and have some lunch.

I don't get to do that as much anymore, but I think its the best shooting there is.
