Problem is I live literally right next door to a public high school.

Does this mean I can't even have a loaded gun in my house!?

Seems pretty hard to get it out to the car too...

Looking at open carry but, loaded around the house and property, unloaded everywhere else.

As long as you are not "open to the public", as in, you are running a business from your home that allows the public free access to a portion of the property, then there is an exemption for private property. Living across the street from a school means that you can carry a loaded weapon on your property only. As soon as you step onto some area of publicly accessible property (even a privately-owned public sidewalk) you need to have it in a locked case.

Loaded Concealed Carry on your fenced in property is completely fine. In your house is fine as well. Lock all guns up in the house before transporting them to your car unless you have a closed garage or a fenced in driveway.
