Open Carry advocate, Karen Nixon, wants nothing more than to be able to defend herself from being the victim of violent crime for the third time. Yet, Assemblyman Anthony Portantino wants to take that right to self-defense away from her. Is this your government at work?

Gives credence to the view that in California at least...victims have no rights.

Has she gotten her CCW denial? If not, why not? Is she in touch with CGF?

Yeah, that's gonna be a strong case. She'd be quite a sympathetic plaintiff. Just the kind of person the Bradies and MAIGers don't want to be seen publicly arguing can't defend themselves.

Look further down the article-it says she's an Antioch resident, has an OOS CCW, and has had friends apply and get denied. It appears she hasn't applied, but I agree she should just in case she's hassled. Then she can sue for both CCW denial and OC harassment.

Hmmm. One wonders if Karen would have shot at the guys who stole her purse in the second incident. Or tried in the first and ended up with a knife in her.

Very cool article.

One wonders if they would have tried had they seen the openly carried firearm on her hip or if it was possible for average citizens to obtain a CCW. The fact that someone may not have been able to defend themselves if they had been armed during an incident is not a reason to prevent them from carrying in the first place.
