Monday ended with an even better turn out than the previous two days!

I had people who were not part of SBOC come up later and say how they were impressed to see so many people walking around the Fiesta open carrying.

What was great for me was seeing all the new faces out there open carrying. SBOC has really done a great job at spreading the word and engaging new people in open carry advocacy.

You can check out some pictures from the event here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.210648688975464.55531.122802434426757

These street fairs are one of the best ways we as open carry advocates can educate the public about their rights and NORMALIZE open carry.

We had hundreds of people stop by our booth and learn about open carry, had over 150 sign up for our email list and sold many many memberships and t-shirts.

Couldn't have been done without all the tireless volunteers who got up at 5am to get out there and set the booth up and did not leave until 6pm to take it down, spending their whole weekend there talking to people and representing our cause. I'm proud to have been a part of such a great group of people and will very much miss them all with my move to Virginia.

We had people learn about it Saturday and come back on Monday to open carry! How cool is that?

If you weren't able to make it out this time be sure and put it on your calendars for Labor Day weekend this year! http://www.fiestahermosa.com/

I stopped by on Saturday and signed up on the email sheet. Great job getting the word out there, and I enjoyed stopping by the booth with my girlfriend.

Slowly but surely trying to show her that guns aren't going to jump out and bite her ;)

Funny, I was actually at the fair on Sunday and I had no idea there was an event until later in the day when i was waiting for a bus at the intersection of PCH and Torrance blvd, where there was an interview in progress. Any idea when the interview will be posted?

National Guard troops under the control of a Governor are acting under Marshall Law &/or LEO authority. NG is NOT subject to the UCMJ unless Federalized & therefore are not under the command & control of the US Military until that time.

I agree in advance it's a fine line but it's there.

Aww crap I missed it! I was down there on Sunday and totally didn't see the booth. Although I biked in from the north, so I didn't really venture up Pier Ave. I'll have to stop by on Labor Day weekend.

Did you guys go walking around the throngs of people in the booth areas at all? I see the point of open carry and I might be OK with doing it myself, but I can't see myself doing it where people are within four inches of you on all sides, everybody shuffling along like cattle. Unless I had a serpa level 8 holster, lol.

You know, he doesnt have to issue- because UOC is still available for people to excersize their 2A rights...

For sure, bring a friend or two.

Yes, and many OC'd there and didn't even come up to the booth, just there to enjoy the fair and happened to be OCing.
I spoke to one SBOC junior member who works at one of the businesses on the pier and he said he was impressed at how many people he saw OCing throughout the fair and in their business.

Does the cool chief issue? If not, why not?

He works at the pleasure of the city council, he'd like to keep his job.

If this is the story I'm aware of then it is being written up in a local news paper at this time. Probably be published next week.

Teaser: OC Advocate (SBOC Member) successfully intervened and subdued a dine & dash turned violent criminal.

That is really cool! My wife and I were there but did not see the booth. We weren't able to stay long though, so we probably just missed it. I wish I had, I would have liked to chit-chat. Oh well.

I didn't know that OC was okay in Hermosa beach. Or is it just unofficially tolerated? I thought California restricted OC to rural areas.

Edit: I just learned that unloaded open carry is legal in most places. Yay!
