i have owned, only 1911 type CF autos. i have a govt ser70, a SA 1911, and a para-ordinance, (and a BHP) . i was at a local gunshop, and decided to look at the XD's, seemed nice, (never liked the feeling of a glock),but a friend pointed out the M&P45. it felt much better than the XD, and the price was right, $499. i have taken out shooting once, and it is great. which is hard for me to say, because i never trusted, polymer, or aluminum frames. plus the m&p has a stainless slide that is flat black coated. now i want a compact version for ccw.

Nice, I love my 45 compact. Enjoy and pick up some Apex parts. That's next on my agenda.

IMO M&P is (was) the most underrated pistol ever... When I first shot one I knew I had to have it and ordered one the next day... to this day I state I like it better than my USP.
I'm not positive, but I think the M&P was the first to offer configurable back-straps - it's very accurate and problem-free...
I'm not convinced on the Apex parts - only because most posts I see are typical internet regurgitation (many of which haven't shot the configuration) - I have nearly 1K rounds through it and the trigger is fine, as accurate as any pistol I've shot (my other 4 plus friends & rentals) - I dont use my M&P in competition so maybe that's why I'm not sold on the Apex upgrade?...
Anyway - it's my bedside/primary go to gun (out of 7) - I trust my life with it and highly recommend it. I plan to get a 9mm or .40 compact (for cc when I get out of the Western communist block).

I love my 1911, but I want more than one and can't stomach $1,300+ each, so I've gone to the M&P 45s as well. One's in the 10-day jail, and the other's in the 30+10 day jail. :)
Folks do rave about the Apex parts, and I'm not thrilled with the trigger on my M&P 9, but I plan to fully break-in the pistols before deciding whether to go with Apex parts, send 'em to David Bowie, or leave 'em as is. I'm really enamored with having a red dot sight on my pistol, so at least one will probably go to Bowie for that work.

Although I don't own one, I was able to run one through some paces and I believe it's the best poly 45 hands down. And that's comparing it to G21SF, HK45 (owned & sold), USP, FN, and others. Highly underrated firearm. MP45 + Apex parts = nirvana.

The M&P 45 is an awesome gun. Reliable, very accurate, comfortable and well made...I have the one with a thumb safety. It is my travel gun when I travel from SoCal back home to NorCal...It is also my bedside gun. I compared it to the Glock and for me it was not close. Comfort, feel, and accuracy it had the glock I tried beat. I owed it to myself to try when I was looking. 600+ rounds and no issues at all. It is my favorite handgun.

This is B.S. as I've never seen people praise Apex's part or service yet had no experience with them, they have a well deserved reputation that they have earned. And what specific upgrades do you have that you think it would only benefit someone in competition? Apex has duty/carry rated parts that I and many others trust their lives with and these same parts are approved by some Law Enforcement Agencies.

I love my M&P ..
Get the apex parts. Stock trigger is crap.
not regurgitating internet hearsay, I've had two m&p's, and planning on purchasing a third. trigger has been crap on both of them, and i've installed Apex parts on both of them. they live up to the hype. I can bet the stock trigger on my third m&p will be crap too, so i'm considering apex parts as part of the purchase price.
