Can someone tell me if a vertical forearm grip is legal to have on a CA. AR as long as there is a bullet button installed. Thanks.

I was reading here in another thread that 9th circuit says otherwise that the vfg does not change the design of the pistol and doesn't apply to something, on phone tho do not looking for thread, look fir a thread that has 9th and VFG in it, just recently too

but that 9th ruling is unpublished, so it doesn't have precedence.

100% legal on a AR type rifle, not Pistol :D (Unless you do the AOW paperwork).

4 of my rifles have vertical grips, all are California compliant.

Would you mind inserting a period so that folks can figure out what you are talking about? I read this sentence 3 times and it still gives me a headache.

Unless something has changed recently (if so, please post a link):
Pistol + VFG = Federal AOW
-g

he is talking about a recent thread on the legal boards where a 9th CC decision stated a VFG doesn't change a single hand pistol into a two handed AOW. The AOW rule is also subjected to smooth bore in a small way... BUT two flaws exist with this
1) Its not set in stone
2) an AR pistol is a redesign of a rifle so they are in fact AOWs with a second grip sans the smooth bore part. which I have never read.

I also read something about an AFG being good to go on a pistol, considering the AFG ergonomics aren't that of a "pistol grip". I'm not really on the up and up as far as AR pistols go however, so I may have been misinformed.

OP: You are good to go with a VFG assuming you have a BB and 10rnd max magazines.

I started buying Black rifles in May 2010, just under 4 months I had about 10 different ones. But I'm a compulsive buyer and didn't do too much research before spending a months salary on guns. Luckily, I've toned it down a bit & started getting rifles that people drool over ;) Here's a couple of my more recent additions

Federal laws describes the AFG as different to a VFG, so it is acceptable to mount the AFG onto a pistol. However, CADOJ hasn't made that same distinction as of yet. So for Californian's, it's caveat emptor

Right, thats the kicker, I remember reading that as well. Damn CADOJ, bunch of uptight bastards. Even if they are proven wrong they wont admit it... I love the weather here in CA, but I hate the laws...
