The .556 round will not work in an unmodified AK 74 magazine. You will have to make some mod's.

The top one is factory. The two bottom ones have had some relief cuts around where the round's shoulder is. To increase reliability, find Robinson Arms .223 AK-74 followers. You can see those followers in the top two mags.

.223 followers and mag lip work. Why not just use Galil mags or modifyed Saiga mags. You can even get an adapter to use AR mags. Or just use regular AK 223 mags.

I could be wrong as there are a few different Galil models, but Galils use Galil mags. In order to use AR mags they need a mag adaptor.

Copes has Tapco and IMI mags here (http://www.copesdistributing.net/index.php?cPath=32_169&osCsid=06b015d4c869f9d5414e5488cd8efaac). There was a thread over on the Saiga 12 forums about using these and IIRC all that was needed was the bullet guide. I'd suggest looking through the Saiga 12 forums first, just to be sure.

Galil mags can also be found at Henderson Defense (http://www.hendersondefense.com/store/pc/Galil-35-round-Magazine-40p89.htm) (out of stock right now)

what is a .223 followers and mag lip work.

Here (http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/step_10.htm) is an older step by step of converting 74 mags to .223. You need to modify the mag feed lips and possibly fit the mag catch lug.

I've seen followers before, but the only place I can think of off the top of my head is K-Var (http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16718&cat=420&page=1)

where can i get the adapter for the use of ar mags.

MSA (http://magnoliastatearmory.com/products-page/ak-47-parts/) sells them. I think they have a bolt on one and one that actually it fitting into the receiver, be careful with the later because if you mess up the milling your gun is fubar.

223 AK mags won't work without modifying the gun. And it's not a fun process either trying to get reliable feeding from both sides of the mag. I would get the AR adapter if I had one of those.

I dont think an AK-74 mag will even fit in the mag well of a Saiga 223
