Just what the title implies, are there any 80% Fal receivers.

Google is your friend Iggy.

I am sure there are...but I've heard that finishing an 80% FAL receiver is a tall order requiring lots of precision machining. Someone else will know more.

Unlike my warnings about 80% buildups of AR/AK receivers (due to handwaving around Harrott) there is no such worry about homebuilt FAL-style receivers.

Build it, serialize it, configure it legally.

How hard they are to build I dunno...

I believe Century has made some in the past, they come up for sale now and again on the falfiles. Supposedly they are not an easy project, although they are relatively cheap (less than a hundred bucks IIRC).

If Tannery doesn't have them, don't count on anyone else having them.

Here are a few links pertaining to the 80% builds

About the legality of doing so.

FAL receiver coming soon so the website says.

FAL receiver coming soon so the website says.

I hope you got on the list a couple years ago . . . :(

Might as well order a DSA and wait two months, or a Century and get it sooner (around 200$). I've even been thinking about Entreprise lately - the 239$ type 3 w/ "lifetime" (it says elsewhere on the site it's one year only) doesn't sound too bad. I think the quality may be a little higher than on a Century. And if I can DROS at their store that would help a lot.

Trying to machine a 80% Centruy is impossible unless you have a mill. The dremel can only do so much. The charging handle slot have to be cut; pain in the butt according other FALers. Threads reamed, ejector block drilled, and rails need to be cut (IIRC). In short the Century 80% is more like a 40%.

If anyone wants to try, I have an 80% century FAL receiver I would sell, along with the blueprints. PM me for details.

You will more than likely need a mill to finish it- it's more like 70% really. You need to cut the bolt slots, the slots for the top cover, tap the barrel threads, and maybe a few other minor things. The funny thing is, I think it already has sone type of finish on it. I have a cheap chinese mini mill which would be sufficient to finish it, but I already have a registered AW FAL, I bought this off a friend a few years back.

Here is some interesting information on the FAL Info for both inch and metric pattern rifles.
