Is a ak47 norinco mak90 with a thumbhole stock a good ak? What are you thoughts? Are these able to be ca legal?

They are not CA legal. "ChiCom" AK's are some of the best in the world.

My friend got 1 before the ban. It's pretty awesome. But I personally don't think its better than any other AK

I have a MAK90 and it is one of the best AK's I have ever shot and I have shot quite a few from most of the major makers. Great barrel with respectable accuracy, has been 100% reliable and has the best trigger I have ever seen (except for a buddy's custom $1k+ AK). Mine started with a thumbhole stock which I ended up replacing with a Ironwood design stock along with all the necessary replacement parts to make it compliant with 922.

My rifle had a slanted receiver....not sure why they did this but I think it had to do with import rules. I know some people don't care for the slant cut receivers but it has no impact on functionality.
