View Full Version : Is my noveske rail Real?!

So long story short. I acquired a bunch of AR parts such as magpul stocks and grips and other sorts of goods.
However I was also given a Noveske free float rail.
I literally cannot find any information on this rail and I was wondering if it is real or anything about it?

I found airsoft versions but I notice distinguish differences between them such as the airsoft has no rail numbering or the noveske logo etched into it.

Anyways here are some pictures!

Looks real to me but I would need to see more pics of the rail to confirm. Have any larger pics or any in higher resolution?

It definitely looks authentic. Noveske gets their rails from Superior Weapons Systems.

When I looked at the Noveske site I saw that most of their rails had SWS somewhere on the rail but this one doesn't have any. Could it be an older model? The guy said he had it for a while.

Haha I traded my surefire and a few sorts of other goodies for his litte care package.

One last thing if its real do you know what model it would be? I have no intentions of keeping it so I am pretty much gonna sell it XD

Whats the lenght? Most of the time you can't buy things like rails from Noveske on their own.

Is it 9"? looks like it came off of light recce 16".

If it's shorter than that it probably came off of a Noveske AR pistol or SBR.

It's 12" rail
I found the airsoft version of it
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4940
I also compared it in person to the airsoft version. The airsoft version says AIRSOFT on it, doesnt have the markings, and does not have the noveske logo etched into it.

12" rail? damn

Is the airsoft version made out of metal aswell or plastic?

If it's real it came off of a 16" Light Recce or a 18" SPR

It is made out of metal as well. Comparing the rails though the the noveske that I have felt more slick as the airsoft model felt and looked more dull also some of the parts looked slightly different physically besides the logos and such. Unless there is some other company that made airsoft noveske rails I believe this is real...

Sure it's 12"?

From what I've read on the Noveske website these rails in their longest lenght come in 11" and 11.5" tops.

The rail resembles most to a Noveske Light Recce FSR.

Unfortunately there a lot of companies that knock off Noveske and other real steel parts without putting distinguishing marks

That part that is throwing me off is the back of the rail that there is a hole, my co-workers Noveske upper that I'm looking at right now doesn't have this. From what I know the airsoft versions that are licensed have a block there in order to prevent someone from installing a gas tube. Perhaps they removed the pin?

See the small hole above the Noveske cross logo?

If it were an airsoft rail it would say "AIRSOFT ONLY" on the side of the rail

My Lo-Pro Recce upper didn't say SWS anywhere... BTW, they are made by SWS for Noveske to his specs so you can't just order it directly like that from SWS.

I have to disagree with you, usually on the licensed products have airsoft only marks. I have seen many knockoffs (had to educate myself because a friend of mine got screwed over in hundreds of dollars worth of "legit" parts)

For example but not limited to:
http://www.ebairsoft.com/vltor-style-imod-stock-black-p-3599.html
http://www.ebairsoft.com/ar15-handguard-tube-p-2176.html

The list can go on and on.

Well all the Noveske airsoft rails I have seen are airsoft only marked but you are right about there being knockoffs.
I guess I was thinking of licensed noveske airsoft rails.

Why not call Noveske?

They're very helpful and polite on the phone. They'll be able to tell you exactly if it's a real Noveske or not.

Noveske gets their rails from SWS, however they are made to Noveske's specs. The SWS and Noveske rails, even made by the same manufacturer, are different and will appear different so you have to go directly to Noveske.

Noveske does not sell their rails directly. So if this is a genuine Noveske it was pulled from a complete Noveske upper.

Like many companies, Noveske has made small changes to their rails over the years, so you also can't directly compare this rail to a rail on a current Noveske rifle or upper.

Just call Noveske and let them know you want to check the authenticity of this rail. They'll help you out.

Does it actually include the barrel nut and mounting hardware?

Has the piece that holds the rail to the rifle but no tools to put it on.

Ok. I think the Noveske barrel nut can be installed using a standard barrel nut wrench. Then the rail attaches to that using hex-head cap screws. I believe.

You are correct about the hex cap screws theres two on each side of the rail. I will be taking it to a local gun shop today to have it removed

You would need the special barrel wrench if you had the Noveske/VLTOR VIS.

With that one you should be good to go.
