My Socom II blew the bolt on my first outing. I was thoroughly disappointed although Springfield Armory repaired everything free of charge.

It has been reported over on HKPRO.com that a bad batch of bolt heads were manufactured by one of PTR's vendors, PTR has made good on these if your rifle and/or part purchased had this issue.

Metallurgical issue aka bad steel and/or improper heat treatment i.e they were treated incorrectly and became brittle.

You may also wish to check the serial number range and insure that the weapon does not have a barrel issue due to there vendor improperly fluting the barrels, its only a small percentage but its and issue.

I'm sorry but I'm ignorant about this matter, what kind of gun is a PTR 91?

Did a round get stuck in there and blow up? That looks like a sizeable chuck of metal to be breaking like that.

Good thing that the PTR origin company is making good on the warranty. That bolt is scrap metal. Murphy's Law...
