Im curious if anyone has done this before? I recently bought a battle comp 1.5. They didnt really have any 1.0's in and when I talked to them about it. They said only real difference is the 1.5 is a lil longer. But I got home and kinda looked it up, and seems they were made for the 14'' barrels. Despite it being just a lil longer than the 1.0, would it fit on a 16'' barrel ok? Kinda worried about those pre-drilled holes.

"The BattleComp 1.5 in Black Oxide will fit all barrels with 1/2 x 28 RH standard threads.

The BC1.5 has the same performance as the BC1.0, but the BC1.5 has been extended and pre-drilled for permanent attachment on 14.5" barrels needing 16.1" overall length.

Specifically designed for 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem ammunition.

Crush washer included. "

I would wait for the 1.0. Don't want to add unnecessary length and weight to the barrel.

It's the same threads, so the 1.5 will fit just the same as the 1.0. That "made for 14.5" barrels" is referring to NFA rules that a barrel of a rifle must be at least 16" without a tax stamp. That pre-drilled hole is for the blind pin and weld to the 14.5" barrel. The ATF states that this is an approved method for permanently affixing muzzle attachments to a <16" barrel. The hole won't affect anything on your gun. It's just going to be a half inch longer than it needs to be.

I personally would just stick with it because you will more than likely lose some money if you try to sell the 1.5 then buy a new 1.0.

Well I'm thinking I can just return it tommorrow. It's a local shop. Been prying the poor women for 3-4 trips tying to get her to sell me one (they are always reserved.) But don't really want to unless I needed to or if those pre drilled holes not being screwed in will make it look funky or something. I dont think it will really add too much weight. Compared to my stock A2 flash hider, it's like 3/8 longer not even a half a inch. I was just worried about the pre drilled holes, if those would make it look wierd or something.

The pre-drilled hole for the pin will be at the bottom of he gun. No one will see it while you're shooting and you won't really notice it unless you pay close attnetion to that area.

The only difference is the over all length. If the length and the probably 1/2ounce weight difference doesn't bother you then I would just stick with what you have. I almost did what you did and bought a 1.5 but decided to wait a little longer and eventually got the 1.0, took an extra month but I wasn't able to get any trigger time around then anyways so waiting wasn't an issue.

I have the BC 1.5 on my 14.5" barrel. I actually think it looks better than the 1.0. On the 1.5 you dont see the "cap". If you can handle the extra length/weight, just keep it.

1.0 (top) vs 2.0 (bottom)

Weight difference? HAHAHAHA. Oh...you were serious. To me, the 1.5 looks better and performs the exact same way. I have mine on a 14.5 and am considering putting the 1.6 on my 16" one as well.
