Centerfire has Dragunov "Style" Butt Stock for AK-47/74

for 10 bucks, 3 or more for 8 bucks each, 10$ flat rate shipping til the end of the month.

Since they were so cheap I ordered up 3 in the hopes that they would fit the Romy builds that I've been working on. And they do. So I filled them in with some 2x6 I had layin around (secured with a few drywall screws and a bunch of liquid nails). Pretty cheap for a detachable mag build I think.

They'll look a lot better after I test-fire and paint everything black. Also I have an extra stock if anybody wants it to play around with, PM me.

Very Nice! After I get my FAL receivers home I plan on picking up a few AK receivers and doing the same.

What a coincidence! I just ordered 3 stocks last Friday also. Nice job of filling in the thumbhole. Here's my contribution:

Did each of your stocks come with both attachment screws?

Mach, I gotta say your contribution was my inspiration! I just couldn't deal with that plastic stuff and figured I could fill them in with wood (altho it takes the better part of an hour to fit them up).

And they only came with the rear attachment screw.

That looks good. I can see some enterprising gun dealer start flooding the Kalifornia gun market with that set up. And there will be nothing the DOJ can do to stop it... other than listing. And that option ends soon...

What do you mean by "that option ends soon"? Is there some limit to Kalif's legal meanderings as it relates to gun laws?

Beginning on Jan. 1st, 2007 the Dept. of Justices' ability to add new make and model numbers to the AR15 and AK47 Series Assault Weapons list will end. :D :) :D :)

It almost seems like a paralell universe. Of course there's still the Roberti AWB thing, but maybe when the fat bugger dies we can throw it in the hole with him.

I was thinking about just epoxying a plastic sheet onto the left side of the stock, which would stop the thumb from going through, but not be as bulky-looking as filling out the entire cavity.

So by having the thumbhole filled in, you can run detachable mags?

Indeed, just make sure you don't have flash hiders, forward pistol grips, or any other "evil" features.

How the hell do you shoot without somewhere to wrap your thumb around?

What do you think about adding a thumb rest on the right side? Or even just a hook so that you can use your thumb for a little bit of leverage? Would that be ok?

I was thinking of closing up the hole when I get around to building mine by using fiberglass fabric. Maybe fill it with foam to give it a little more strength if needed. But I was thinking that would be lighter. Thoughts on that?

Looks good guys.

Entirely unneccessary. If you notice, my thumb isn't even resting on the stock. It's on the receiver. You could also grasp it with the thumb pointed upward and rest it on top of the back of the receiver cover. It's comfortable.

My stocks have arrived, and they're unfinished. Any recommendations on a type of finish to use? I want two to have a darker shade (like walnut). How do you prep the wood? The third I want to do in black. How do you get wood as black as possible? I have to be able to find it at Home Depot. Thanks.

BLO, in multiple coats. Or Zinser Amber shellac for that authentic Russian finish.

Anyone in the bay area ordering some of these stocks? If so, can you add one for me? I'm a cheapskate and didn't want to pay the shipping on just one stock, but I'll split some of the shipping for a larger order.

Where are you exactly in the Bay area?

PM me.

Hey 69Mach,

Are these buttstocks the same as on the PSL?

No. They start out the same, but the PSL stocks are cut a little different from the AK thumbholes. They won't interchange. By the way, if you want to use this same kind of stock on a Vepr, use the AK version.
