I'm getting worried about my guns now the weather has turned. I have them stored in a security cabinet in my garage.

I'm considering moving them to a bedroom closet. Has anybody done this and then had problems with oil smell getting into their clothing and rooms?

i keep my safe in the bedroom i never notice any smells even after putting guns back after a good cleaning. get yourself a dri rod for your safe they are very effective at keeping moisture out

I never had any oil odor issue from firearms stored in any room. Now, if you soak your firearms in oil and put them in the closet dripping, that may be an issue. One thing I don't keep in the house is the cleaning supplies. Those go outside, so no stinky rags are inside.

I keep my firearms inside a security cabinet in a closet. I have yet to detect any odor from oil or from the firearms. I do always clean them after each outing and before storing them in the cabinet.

No smell that I've ever noticed...and that even in keeping a oiled/lubed shotgun in the clost OUT of a safe for SHTF stuff.

But yep. Keep all them solvents/cleaning supplies out somewhere else; especially used rags....*some* things on rags can/do spontaneously combust so keep em away from flamables;)

Thanks Gents. Sounds like there is no problem. My babies are moving inside. Cleaning supplies staying outside.
