Ok after seing a post about an ACOG look like from bushnell, I would like to know what everyone here suggests and are currently using (scope/optics) on their OLL which has not broken your bank or marriage.

I've got a couple Aimpoints, an Eotech, and a ACOG TA31 RCO-A4.

Haven't used the ACOG at the range yet, but it should be hot.

Leupold 4.5x14 Varmit reticule w/ M1 turrets added on my 5.56 SPR.
Leupold 6.5x20 LR target on my 6.5 Grendel that is almost finished.

Will be adding an EOTech to my 16in middy in the future.

It seems that everything I want breaks the bank. I started out with a vx-1 leupold scope at $170 for my varmint rifle because I was out of money. I have since bought a 3-18 illuminated IOR (a lot more money ouch) which is a world of difference. It was six months of saving to afford it.

At this point, I would rather have no optic than something that is not good because it is cheaper to not waste money. So I have 3 oll's with no scope at this point. I put a 4x IOR on another, and an Aimpoint M3 w/larue mount on another. The old 3-9 leupy will be going on another (as soon as my backordered rail comes in) because it is not a bad optic, just limiting in it's recticle type and ease of adjustment. No more optics for a while because I am in saving mode again maybe for a 1-4 Meopa KDot.

If you are willing to compromise, go for good glass like Leupold, in their lower line scopes. Less frills but the glass is sharp and it is made well. Don't skimp on the rings as they are very important. Nikon also has some good glass in their more basic packages. Just don't expect mildots, illumination, 30mm tubes, nitrogin filled, hand adjustable turrets....

Elcan SpecterDr, how much did that set you back? I've never seen anyone have them in stock.

Nightforce 3.5-15X50, no it wasn't cheap :p .

T168? That's what I got on my 5.56.

My Grendel sports a Xotic 4x16x56.

The Beowulf has an Eotech.

I was using a cheap red-dot but it would need constant readjustment, I finally picked up an Eotech and wish I'd done it right the first time.

Jesse, do not quote me on this but I believe you can't use the ML2 with night vision. And the ML3 you can.

The Comp ML2/ML3 does not support NVD. The Comp M2/M3 does support them.

ACOG on a 16" upper. Shoots like a GEM, when I'm shooting correctly.

Besides the night vision... is the ML2 okay....?

I've got an ML2 and it works perfectly fine for what I need it for, since I know I'm never going to have the funds to put out 3 grand for a pair of PVS-7D's or 14's...

If you think at some point you will have some sort of night vision and want to shoot your OLL with it, then go with the M2. If your like most of us and just punch paper in the day or plink in BLM land, the ML2 is perfect.

The difference in the ML2 and ML3 is the ML2 is 4MOA and the ML3 is 2MOA which just means the ML3 has a smaller, clearer dot.

If you go with a Aimpoint or EOTECH, you can alwyas save up a few more bucks and get a Aimpoint 3X Mag behind them and you can have almost the best of both worlds..........:D

varmint rifle has 6.5-20X40 Vari-X II(I?) that I got second hand for a good price.
My other rifle has iron sites while I save for an acog.
I completely agree with Tzvia - it's worth waiting to buy the right optics.

My 16" J&T Upper has an Eotech on an RRA dominator mount (so nice!):
