Green mountain or clark customs seem to be excellent quality for a good price. Everything else is a really expensive or the quality is questionable. Price went up when the guns got popular, name tax?

If you are looking for an inexpensive one then Green Mountain for around $100. If you are looking for a really good one then its very hard to beat KID for $175.

Cost is going to depend on weight. Green Mountain and some of the others are all stainless or chrome moly. Kidd, Whistle Pig, Beyer etc are aluminum with a chrome moly or ss or ?? center and are going to be more expensive but about 1/2 the weight. I swapped a 16" chrome moly barrel on a boyds evolution stock, with a Beyer lightweight because the gun was so muzzle heavy and cut about a pound and a quarter off the barrel weight but it was twice the price.

I got these two from Midway and I am very happy with the way it shoots with just a stock trigger group.

I'm relatively new to this - I do own a Ruger 10/22 that is about 3 months old.

I've seen people at the range using these bull barrels on their 10/22's - but my question is: Why use them at all? What is wrong with the stock barrel?

Heat, short length and harmonics all effect the shots from a stock 10/22 barrel. While stock barrels are ok for everyday plinking, they are not very good for precision shots.

Cost is going to depend on weight.

I think my whole 10/22 with a Tactical solutions barrel weighs about the same as my stock 20inch barrel did. Totally worth the $189.00 or whatever I paid.

Me and my boys use Green Mountian 18 BB fluted, 18 Blued BB no fluted and 20 Stainless fluted and they are are all great. Gunkings has them from 79.99 and up with free shipping. If you want something really light then you can't beat a tactical solutions and if your into it they come in different colors so you can do a pretty customer looking rig. All three of of our GM's shoot .5 at 50 yards with 10 shots. IF you want really light the VQ's in Carbon Fiber are really nice but $$$. all depends on how much you want to spend. Be careful before you know it you can easily have 800.00 or more in your rifle but hey it will last forever.

Gunkings is a good place for 10/22 parts.

what is the best B.Barrel for a 10/22 please? I'm checking out these different web sites and I need some help please. Some of my issues/questions are twist rate 1:16 vs. 1:9, fluted vs. non fluted, is the Volq. carbon fiber really worth that much (I can buy a new 10/22 for that price) - thank you all

I've installed about a dozen E.R. Shaw barrels on different builds, both blue and stainless. I love them even though they tend to be pretty heavy. I've always gone to www.gunkings.com never had a problem, reasonably priced.

You want 1:16, 1:9 is made for Aguila SSS ammo. IIRC YMMV.
