STANDARD BLM MAP

http://i12.tinypic.com/29uralz.jpg
AREAS IN THE RED "OK" SPOTS ARE 100% LEGAL TO SHOOT IN AND AROUND!!

Hope this helps you guys somehow.

Always remember:

PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT!!!

And always use a REAL target of some sort. Don't be the meathead shooting at rocks and into the air.

And most importantly, remember WE SHARE THE DESERT not only wildlife, but hikers, offroads, dirt bikers, etc.

Always check your back stops and be REAL safe out there!!!

thanks JP!:D

re: El Mirage Lake bed.
I was told it was ok to shoot there but there's been times when "men in black suits" patrol the area. Later at the airport, I see the sat equipment trailer and a Predator UAV parked on the tarmac. Hmmm...wonder if that's why SB sherrif's were very active out there?

It is 100% illegal to shoot at El Mirage. You can shoot shotguns out in the desert near by, but it is 100% illegal to discharge ON the dry lake bed.

The do a lot of DoD drone testing out there, and the nort side of the area is real close to the Edwards AFB munitions testing area.

I have the same map and I go shoot there also. Do not shoot close to the freeway(Hodge rd.) by the cellphone tower. There are signs there saying it is illegal but are painted over.
Awhile back I called the barstow BLM office about shooting in the red areas and they told me alot of that area is private property now and I would need permission from the land owners to shoot on their property. I told them there are no fences and so how would I know if property was private? They said they didn't know but kind of came across as don't shoot there that's why they changed the description of the shooting area. It use to say a small portion of BLM land south of barstow is also legal, but now it only talks about areas north of barstow. They also said they were looking into making the shotgun area smaller so there would be more shooting areas. It's been a year or so since I talked to them so that's about what I remember. http://www.blm.gov/ca/barstow/recshoot.html Mark

I usually go to Liberty Canyon, just south of Red Rock Canyon State Park off the 14... Or Jawbone if it is a dead time of year (normally lots of bikers). If I get a 3 day weekend, I camp out there.

We've been going here for over 10 years now, we laid down a 30'x20' tarp with 4 tables and 2 eazyups. We shoot anything from shotguns, handguns, and rifles everytime we are there the plane flies over head at least 3 to 4times. been visited by the local PD and ranger numerous times. We do pack in and pack out every single spent shell and any trash we might have. We have never had a problem with LEOs or rangers, maybe because we've been going there for so long... and the fact that we do it the right way (no glass, no leaving shiat all over the place) like I said when we leave it's like we were never there, except for the area tamped down by the huge tarp. And we shoot against a very large hill.
I did not know about this BLM map until i saw it here and when I showed it to my shooting coleagues we just about busted out laughing, cause I guess we've been lucky for a long time now.
Guess we will be going up the 15 a little further to check the "legal" :D area out. Thanks.

To go along with this post I think GeoCommunicator.gov should be included in order to be sure the land you are on is BLM and not private. Private land is dotted all over the place.

(Note: Firefox didn't work for me...I had to use IE)
