You will be good with anything you get excepting Vulcan/Hesse.

I have two High Standard lowers and an Ameetec and they are all nice. Stag seems to be the most popular choice.

So in other words get whichever lower's logo you like  .

This has been covered about a million times, and the usually response is, the one you've got.... I know that some are kind of tighter than others, but the only difference tends to be the finish.... I would be more concerned with the upper.....

It pretty much comes down to what company you want etched into the side of the magwell. They've been built to spec for decades.

The one that you can get for under $100 that isn't a vulcan? :)

I love it when anyone asks this question which is about once a month.

Any lower you get from CWS is the best...............:D

I have a stag and a CMMG and will be buying one more tomorrow. Not sure what kind, it depends on what Ammo Bros has in stock. The finish on the CMMG is better but once I wiped the stag down with rem oil it looks great.

 OH MY GOD what's up with everyone making OLL's... I want one but which one is best or better yet the best value??? Please give me your info
Depending on where you are in L.A. Ammo Bros. (http://www.ammobros.com/) in Cerritos has a bunch of Doublestar lowers for $165 + $25 DROS. I was there on Monday and that is all they have in stock right now. They are quick and friendly if you are within driving distance.

There looks to be a run on OLL's if the CWS website is any indication.

more than 1/2 of the brands that they have listed on their website are out of stock.

I would say now is the time to get one before the supply dries up.

Here is my latest lower.

Rock River Arms for the win. Bought mine from CWS (seems) ages ago. Had heard nothing but good things before and after my purchase. And I really didn't like the idea of a deer on the side of my rifle, so I got a RRA. Not that I've heard anything at all bad about Stag, just didn't like the deer. Does that make me shallow?

Doublestar has a big dragon on the side. Scary insignia for a big black rifle. :D

Sam,

I'm sure I can find it if I search, but could you throw a lazy man a bone and tell me who did your custom "Locky" lower there?

I always though "felony" was 180 degrees from "legal". ;)

Haha not that, just of all animals, a deer seems so timid. I'm a manly man, who cuts sheetrock and breaks boulders with his hands. Now a unicorn....that would be sweeeet. :p

I wanted to get a CMMG lower (though I'd originally been looking at Stag because I'd heard good things) because I liked the logo of an AR on the side of my black rifle over that of a deer.

CWS was out of stock :(. I bought a Doublestar instead because it was the same price, and the dragon logo is pretty cool looking too.

And Joe, since I felt the same way as Cereal, I'll give you my answer. I'm not buying a hunting rifle, I'm buying a black rifle. I feel like a logo of an AR (or in this case a dragon) more fitting than a deer's head.

I like my Stags better than my Megas as far as the cut goes. The Mega has a pretty finish which only matches the Mega uppers. Mega also have nice roll marks and are marked "Multi Cal" if that means anything to you.

Ahh, I get it. So you're buying a dragon slaughtering rifle :p Someone needs to ban those dragon killing rifles... for the kids.

The Stag has been a symbol of the Masculine Principle in cultures all over the world, and particularly in Celtic Culture. He is the symbol of virility, strength & courage, representing the Horned God, Cernunnos, Herne, Cerne, the God of the Hunt & Wild Places

Stags are not timid my friend, a manly man should know that. :)

I like the irony of the deer on my Stags. "See, its a sporting/hunting rilfe - the deer is right here."

Nah, "legal" is only about a 10 degree wedge. Outside of that it goes "Infraction" "Misdemeanor" and finally, "Felony." The "Felony" one takes up 180 degrees.

Vulcan isn't too bad. Besides the marking looks like crap. I assembled my OLL without any hiccup. Maybe i was lucky to get good one.

Yup, you were lucky. There are some good ones out there, but there are also a lot that have problems. Glad to hear it works fine for you.

There is another thread only a couple weeks old where I posted pics of Stag, DoubleStar, and CMMG side by side. Take a look.

There are as many different opinions as there are lowers, any are good with the exception of mayby the VULCAN and CARBON 15.

Pick out the lower with the logo you like best. My favoites are MEGA and Stag.

Please don't go bagging on the Bushmaster Carbon 15 unless you own one or shot one.

I've got a High Standard HSA-15 and can tell you I'm not particularly impressed by the finish etc.

As long as it goes bang, I don't mind too much. Going to put a Prince50 and an M+A parts kit on it soon, I'm thinking 20 inch A2 for starters.
