I have a Ruger Security-Six .357 Magnum 4" and a Redhawk .44 Magnum 7 1/2".:38:

These pistols are very accurate, plus you can use .38 special or .44 special.

What do you like about Stainless guns.

I like (stainless) guns
I like they way they look.
I like the shiny steel and the polished wood.
I don't care if they're big or small.
If they're for sale, heck, I want 'em all.
I like (stainless) guns.

All black pistols for me. Blues or paint.

There should be a bacon option + "All the above."

I like stainless for all the reasons stated except "You don't have to clean them." You do, but you don't need to be as careful and can use more aggressive solvents & mild (VERY mild) abrasives & polishes.

...AND I also like blued guns. And I don't mean the flat matte black that passes for bluing these days. I mean a deep, rich high polished blue. See "Colt Python" and "S&W M27."

Given a choice of one of today's "blued" guns or a nice stainless, gimme stainless. Polished finish, thank you. ;)

Where is the whats not to like option?

I like the look of stainless. An advantage is if it gets scratched up it can be easily fixed to like new with very little effort and it's still the factory finish (no finish).

I like stainless revolvers and Blued/Black pistols for none of the options in the poll (Well, maybe "Always go bang" but stainless or blued will always go bang). Mostly because I can take a wire brush to the revolvers for cleaning the hard to clean areas (e.g. cylinders) without having to worry about the finish.

But I would take a 92fs Inox (like Jerry X's), for pure beauty.

Yeah, I know it's not a wheel gun. Just giving one of the few exceptions to my Blued/Black pistol preference. :)

BTW, Loved F Troop! :D

I wouldn't say they're rust proof more like rust resistant :p.
I like the rust proof quality and the finish.

geez, those are really nice. its my goal to eventually buy stainless revolvers which are very similar to both of those, most likely ruger. im considering buying a ruger redhawk 44 mag in the very near future.

although, i already have a romanian draco which i already paid for sitting in limbo right now. still needs to be dros'd to me

05-08-2011, 9:23 PM
Though they are really nice, I am not a big fan of SS. yikes, i'm gonna get burned now.

05-08-2011, 9:28 PM
Meh, take 'em or leave 'em.....

I love em.. but the poll isn't really 100% dead on. They do require cleaning and if anything.. they show lack of cleaning far worse than blued ones. I agree that they're easier to clean though because you don't have to worry about blueing..but at the same time.. people probably tend to clean SS guns more rigorously than blued because it shows up more.

they're not rust proof, just rust resistant

like all other guns.. they don't always go bang either.

I prefer blue. That being said I won't let stainless stop me from owning a gem here and there.

I realized today out of my eight different guns none are stainless. I dont have anything particular against SS guns I just like the blue ones. Like Ive been looking for a blued security six for ages now.....

I love them all: blued and stainless.

This is why I like stainless revolvers.

Wheelguns are the only type of firearm that I like in stainless. Everything else I prefer blued, even the matte black (parkarized) look.

05-09-2011, 10:20 AM
I'm just getting used to them - sorry, grew up on the blued steel handguns. I have and can like the polished or brushed, satin stainless. But it's a fine line between that and the stainless that appears (even though it's not) to be a "spray on" type matte finish. Some of the current Smiths leave me very unenthusiastic for that reason.

Living a working in the hot, humid, salt sea air environment of Florida's Gulf Coast stainless steel firearms are a God send.

They are not rust proof, just a lot less corrosive and easier to maintain.

...and I like their looks be they bead blasted, satin finished or highly polished.:coolgleamA:

I voted for all four
