can a person with a ccw remove his weapon and "carry" it in a concealed location, in a car, such as under the seat or in the glove box. (or does the ccw permit mandate that the weapon be on and concealed the person at all times)

i ask this in relation to taking a long trip. some holsters are good for concealment, but terrible for sitting for long periods of time.

concealed location is fine. doesnt have to be strapped to you.

I am not a LEO, but I have taken the CCW class.

This subject was discussed.

With a CCW, you can have your gun in the vehicle, not on your person, concealed

But it has to be under your "immediate control"

If you had a passenger in the vehicle and a gun in the glove compartment

The gun may not be under your "immediate control"

Kind of a gray area, but what else is new regarding Ca. gun laws.

This is what I was told too in two different classes I have taken. Makes sense to me. The undersheriff also told me that if I am stopped in CA by a LEO for any reason, if I had a loaded firearm in my vehicle, I was to show my CCW and notify the LEO right up, first thing. I have no idea what the law is regarding this but in my county I'll follow orders as to not rock the boat. It's already sketchy enough around here concerning LEOs and citizens with firearms.
