I've been waiting for a few years now for the elite models to get on the roster, but it doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen. I've contacted sig months ago and they never responded. It seems as if they don't really care. Anyone know?

Single shot exemption, ppt or wait for peņa. The roster will fall before it gets on.

Sig can't get it on the Roster without both the magazine disconnect and the loaded chamber indicator.

Existing 226 models on the Roster must have been submitted before Jan 1, 2007.

Exactly what I was going to say. It most likely won't because it probably isn't profitable for them to make a separate model

They pop up for sale around here from time to time.

Check with shootersedge. They can procure off list handguns at a premium. Just gotta ask yourself how bad do you want it.

It made more economic sense to them to keep the 226ST in production for CA than to modify the 226 Elite. I'm actually happier with the ST than any Elite I've shot (~4)

I'll take an ST model over any Elite any day of the week. The beavertail ruins the look and feel of the gun and does not belong there on both the P220 or P226. And the Elite wood grips make it too fat and slippery to be functional. So the ST is really a better choice.

I checked the roster recently and noticed the 229 Enhanced Elite (both 9 and 40) is now listed. Wonder how/why that one made it on the list? If the 229EE is on the roster, I don't see why the 226EE can't be added as well.

Going off tangent some more: Sig has changed the 226 Elite once again; the Rosewood grips are only available on the Stainless Elites, while the Nitron models now have the slimmer "ergo" grips (hence the name Enhanced Elite). The slim grips on the 226EE are nice for those with smaller hands, but I found the combo of slim grips and short trigger a bit too small for me, so I swapped the slim grips out for a set of Hogue panels.

FWIW I'm pretty happy with the P226R-ST, but they can be a bit hard to get. Sig sort of makes them in spurts I think. I had one back ordered for several months before I finally cancelled the order and found one on the marketplace list here.

Since I cannot obtain an elite model w/o paying a premium. Which P226 Sig version do you recommend then?

I'm on sig's website and I can't find any pictures or specs on the P226R ST model you guys are talking about.

I'm looking for a Stainless Steel Sig P226 in a .9 with Night Sights + Short Reset Trigger (SRT).

ST = Stainless Steel? Maybe?
R = Rape?

Suggestions?

.9 cal would be a destructive device, you mean 9mm. ;)
R is for railed
ST does mean stainless, frame and slide are both stainless. Heavier, less felt recoil.
No SRT (as far as I know), but its easy enough to install yourself.

Single shot exemption is the best way if you want the actual elite. P220 Elite Dark and P226 Combat (+SRT +EE grip) are on my list for single shots.

The 226ST isn't on their website. It is kept in limited production for CA...due to the roster.

I think I got mine from SCP Firearms (Steve)http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/350601935/m/5020046542, you could also check with Topgun Supply (Tom)http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/350601935/m/568103403

People are saying the SRT on the 226's are are gritty and unlikeable. Is this just a bad trigger job or do you guys have the same problem?

I'd like to know before I drop $100 +70shipping when I buy it. Thanks

Factory SRT equipped guns often have gritty and heavy trigger pulls due to the additional pressure and engagement surfaces needed to insure safe operation...since the safety block doesn't re-engage between shots if you only release to the reset point (which is the whole intent of the SRT).

Not every shooter can take advantage of the short reset as their trigger finger comes off the trigger between each shot or they fail to start the takeup of the trigger's travel before the next shot is ready to break.

If yu are looking at having the factory install the SRT, I would strongly recommend having them clean up the action at the same time. It isn't as slick as an action tune by Grayguns or another reputable gunsmith, but it is cheaper

I'm sorry yzernie, I keep forgetting to mention forum members first. We haven't done business yet, but you are highly recommended....plus you can save on shipping by just driving over

To the OP, this is a good deal and if you really want a nice gun, I'd jump on it before it gets snapped up. I understand that the 226ST isn't part of their regular production line and isn't always available

I wish I had the $ right now. I'd drive up the hill and grab it if I did. Ugh I now know why I stopped coming on here... makes me sad.
