This is my first hand gun I had it transfered from Irvington Arms down to Bass Pro shop in Rancho and they said I could pick it up on the 17th which would be 11 days they aren't closed any day of the week. and they charged me $101

Could be right just wanted to make sure

The transfer could be right, different ffls charge different amounts for transfers. The 11 day thing is policy, like big 5.

Law states 240 hours.... ten twenty four hour periods.
Not one second longer is legally required, and one one second less is legally permitted.

They go with 11 days so people don't have to "clock watch"....
You initiated DROS after work on Wednesday, they say 11 days do you don't try to do in Saturday morning to pick up.

Turner's has been spanked by the DOJ for the 11 days and most stores are now doing the proper 10 days and they note the pickup time on the paperwork.

On the $101, that is not unreasonable. $25 goes to the state. The FFL is also responsible for collecting sales tax if the purchase is from an out of state dealer.

So assuming that was a private party purchase, that's a $76 transfer fee, which is a tad high, but not unreasonable. Many shops are $35-$55, many are $65-$90, and Turner's is $125.
If you bought it from a dealer, and it was a $500 gun, that was almost $50 in sales tax, $25 DROS... BP only charged around $25 for the transfer, which is CHEAP!

Glad I know this information now. Gun was free so $101 isn't bad

Actually worked with Dave at Hogs tooth Tactical and he gave me the gun in exchange for some design work.

Next time check this thread for a list of FFL's and their fees. You could have saved a few bucks but oh well since the gun was FREE, I guess.
