The HK USC .45 goes on sale tomorrow at Turners for $1299.. at that price I couldn't resist.. after all, it was on sale.. right?

Turners (Orange) let me buy early and in 10 days I get it.. Only part I hate is the stock that is connected to the pistol grip, so I guess I will be doing at least a partial UMP conversion.

Where's the best place to get parts? I assume I can keep the longer barrel and the UMP lower.. I also figure I can buy or make 10-rnd UMP mags for use in CA...

It's a sickness I tell ya...

Head over to Lanworld and you can get most everything you need (plug and play) You won't be drilling out the magwell to accept double stacked mags etc. but who cares 10 rds here anyway. But be warned $1300 is just the start.
Folding stock (pinned of course)
Rails
40/10 mag
Eotech or aimpoint
all adds up to as much as or more than the gun. (but. . . it will be ALOT better than the USC)

wow, not bad at all.
But yeah, I can see it turning into a very very expensive project gun.

Worth it though Im sure.

40/10 mag? i was told by hkparts that there has never been a >10 rd mag made for the usc. not without doing the ump conversion.

Hkparts and Adam (owner) is your new best friend.

What about HDPS??

They seem to have a kit for $1400.. includes most of the gunsmithing as well..

Yea, it will be stupid priced when done.. oh well.. lol

I need to find a way to pin the new stock.. I understand that in CA I can use the 10-rnd USC mags in the UMP.. run the UMP mags when out of state.

I need cheaper hobbies.

i got mine the first time they had the sale a few weeks ago. Im getting my UMP parts through HKParts.net and HDPS. both are stand up guys that have excellent customer service. Its expensive as hell so im getting the parts piece by piece over time.

I'm pretty certain the mags are not interchangeable in the 2 lowers. The 10 round single-stack USC mags will only fit in the magwell recess of the USC lower and the much wider double-stack UMP mags will only fit in the much wider recess of the UMP lower. So unless you plan on uncoverting the conversion when you're in one state versus the next, it's more of a pain than it's worth. Peter (Radd) sells a dedicated UMP Raddlock and you can fabricate some mag limiters on your own so if I were you...if you plan on taking the plunge and doing the full conversion....just leave it that way. Or do what I did and do both.

So is a Glock which I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you own one of. After all this is CalGuns...if you don't own an AR15, a AK47, or a Glock you might as well be some kind of foreigner.

HELL no - come on - this is an HK we're talking about. This is a plastic .45 carbine for $1,300 that you then have to shell out ANOTHER $1,300 to convert into the gun (HK UMP) that it was meant to be before it got "sporterized" to get into the country and of course add the proper optics.

THAT's what we're talking about!. (Don't even get me started on my HK G36 build!!)

$1300 is a hell of a deal, a few years ago, my girl bought me a new USC and and brought it into the state, after all the californizing and paper work was done, it costed us $1400-$1500 area and I remember at that time, Calgunners were selling them for roughly $1600-$1800 used.

Forgot this part, here is the easy way out since 10rds is all most of us can have.

What's the easiest way to block the ump magazines to 10 rounds? I don't want to use rivets since I'm pretty sure I will leave the state in the future...
Thanks!

....says the guy who has never shot a USC, much less a converted UMP. I was wrecking that bastard pig's heart at Angeles a year ago with my buddies UMP converted USC. Much more than mere "toys".

xfilterx, where did you get your 9mm conversion from?

I bought the barrel from Top Notch and the bolt carrier assembly from HKParts about 4 years ago when they were readily available. Back then mags were harder to get than anything else. Now it's the other way around.

LSC sells the blocks for the MP5/UMP 9mm. For the .40 and .45 I suspect you could use some Delrin and shape it to fit into the body.

Will pin the stock and block a couple of UMP mags.. Like my PS90 I will mostly shoot this in Nevada (or Arizona).. Glad to know I can get a Raddlock for the UMP.

I read somewhere that the USC mags will seat and feed into a UMP lower but they "rock" side to side.. but it's supposed to work. Guess I will find out.

Still lovin' that SCAR I bought off you, although I'm hunding for a 17s.
