View Full Version : Need help - new RGuns .223 upper not loading round

Hi all,

I've had the franklin armory lower (complete gun) since November, with no failure to load issues.

However, when I paired my FA lower with a new RGuns 223 upper, it will properly load 2-3 rounds, then, as you can see from the picture, a load gets stuck without being completely loaded into the chamber.

After 2-3 mags, I called it quits as I'm a lefty and didn't want some freak accident to blow my gun a part.

Anyway, I cleaned it, it was oiled, tried the BCG from Rguns, and the original one from FA - same issue. Just not sure what could be doing this.....

Rguns said to send it back and they'd look at it, but not certain what could be the issue. I know the mags sit correctly, at least while I was using a complete franklin armory rifle it would load without issue...

Try using another kind of mag.

I Used the FA and 2 Omaha. Same issue...

Looks like a mag issue.

Looks like a mag issue to me, try a pmag and see if that helps your situation any.

My stupid phone changed the word Pmag to Omaha! Anyway, I have true 2 pmags and the original FA mag - same problem.

If it's not the mags then look closer here.
Check your uppers.

What do I look at?

The feed ramps as pictured.
Look at your chamber and compare the cuts.
The bullet tips ride on these areas very smoothly from the left and right side of your mag and into the chamber.

This looks exactly like a short stroke that was occuring on my AR (when I tried out the A5 Vltor tube/buffer). The gun doesn't have enough gas / force to push the bolt all the way back so doesn't pick up the next round properly, but rather hits the next round half way and locks it up.

What Buffer / spring are you using?

I take it back. I'd check mags, buffer and spring.
Try swapping buffer and spring from your good lower and see if that helps.
If not, move onto mags.
