IIRC Winchester rifles are currently made by FN in the US.

I have a model 94 made in Newhaven Conn. Do they still make the lever guns there?

I have a model 70 Sporter I bought in 2009. I also have a Defender 1200 12ga. I bought in the 80's.

The bolt action shoots pretty good and the fit & finish was excellent.

Only gripe I have is the safety. It's the new 3-position safety and it's a little too tight for my tastes. Nothing I can't live with but having it a little looser so I don't keep breaking fingernails would be just capital!

No, the New Haven plant was shutdown in 2006. in 2008 production of the model 70 and model 94 was started up again by Herstal Group in South Carolina.
