Hunter

Just received my new NRA card and with it came an offer to give Life Memberships to friends and relatives at $300 vs normal $750. Anyone interested?
EDIT:
This offer closed on 12-31-06.

That's a start.
However, I think we should not be looking at 'deals' for our NRA dues.
In fact, for our 'cause' it's actually better to give $$$$ to the NRA-ILA than the NRA itself. The ILA is the subgroup doing actual legal & legislative battles.

So get a NRA Life membership on the cheap and remember to chip in for the ILA each year :D

I'd probably want it, but I don't know how long it would be until I could redeem it. If no one else wants it, I might use it. I'm not a huge fan of the NRA, but for a life membership who knows what I can use it for.

Actually this is a big push by the NRA to actually recruit more Life Members prior to the 2008 elections. So while some see it as a "deal", I see it as a way to bring new lifers into the fold that normally would not shell out the $750. I myself am upgrading my endowment status to patron status. Does it provide me more "benefits" no, but it is another way of donating to the overall organization, as there is more than just OLLs at stake. On the political side, the ILA still gets a nice chunk each year from me and will continue too, OLLs or not.

Ah the jackets are only 200 bucks. so 300 plus 200 still saves ya 250 on the regular membership.

PMs all sent out. Also the form I have for this offer has only six slots for getting this deal. I'm not sure if I could add more or not. But a phone call is all that would be need to settle the question.

I didn't get that offer with my card, maybe I should have looked better. When I went online to validate the new card on one of the screens there was a lifetime offer for one-time payment of $500 (with the jacket).

I'm ready to sign up. When you call them, can you ask if we can also get the Jacket for $200 more?
For those of you who are cash strapped right now, you can choose the Easy Pay Plan (EPL) of $25 a quarter for 30 quarters.

FYI: military veterans with ANY amount of disability rating get a serious discount too - even a 0% (non-veterans please don't even ask) is good enough.

My 3 year membership is up soon and I was sent renewal paperwork but there's nothing I can find in it to change my address. I sent the NRA a change of address form from the US Post Office last year but they keep sending mailers and my magazine to my old address.

They usually don't offer the EZ-pay option for discounted life memberships. That is one of the reasons you get a discount, because you are paying all of it up front.

OK,
I have sent sent out all of the requested PMs on this. If I missed you, please PM me. Right now I have 2 spots left to fill on a first come first served basis. Anymore than that will take a call to the NRA to see if they will honor this price for more than the 6 initial spots.
PS
This offer is for full payment upfront to the NRA, no easy payment plans accepted by them for this offer.
PS 2
Some asked about the leather jackets, they are available online at the NRA store for $200 right now (on sale).

Looks like I have reached the maximum number of applicants for now with the PMs I have sent already. If it changes I will send out PMs to those asking for more info since my last post earlier today.
I applaud everyone here who is willing to take advantage of a life membership in the NRA. I signed up several years ago with the easy pay plan and it cost me $750.00. That said, if I were able to do it over again....I wouldn't.
Here's the reason; It wasn't too long ago that one of the nicest ranges in Southern California was forced to close down. The San Gabriel Valley Gun Club had been in operation for nigh on 60 years, and with the advent of a new development a short distance down the road, the city of Asuza voted to change land use regulations to force the range out of business. It's an old story by now and I believe that most of those who frequent this board have at least some knowledge of what happened. Where was the NRA? You'd think that with range protection laws in place there would be no problem at all in saving the range. Just have the NRA send out a cadre of their high powered attorneys and the problem would be solved. But they didn't. Again I ask, where was the NRA? I spoke to a former board member of SGVGC and he told me that the NRA refused to get involved. When asked about the conspicuous absence of the NRA during our fight to save the range, the representatives of the NRA who call to raise funds simply reply that California is a lost cause. Great. So my $750.00 went to help people who live in pro gun states. What bull****.
Now you know where your money is going. It IS going to a good cause, it just won't be to help YOU.
Please don't bombard me with with a bunch of lectures. I know that the NRA is the only group that is effective in actively supporting our right to own firearms. The problem is that I'm really angry about their lack of support for those of us who happen to reside in California. Can you blame me?

Wow!! You are sure are uninformed when it comes to what the NRA is doing in CA. Sorry they didn't fight with you on the cause that meant, obviously, a lot to you personally, but the NRA is doing a fine job in California.
I think you need to take a bit of responsibility yourself. How involved were/are you with the NRA. Do you belong to the members council? If not, here is their link... http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/
Its like voting....you cant complain unless you are involved. You cant expect to just pay a few bucks and expect others to do all of the heavy lifting....
I can tell by you post count you are new....stick around...you will see many posts dealing with what the NRA is doing....and you will have the opportunity to be involved.

A local story with a happy ending is the Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club. Remember when the old range caught fire from all the gunpowder stuck in the baffles? The club contacted the NRA, went through the proper steps, and got a no-intrest loan of around $50,000 to rebuild.

Berto and EBWhite;
You guys are more than welcome. I knew it would take them a while to process these. So I'm glad to hear you got notified that everything went thru OK.
I trust that everyone else who went in on this offer, will also have notification soon.
Now, I have since received a few new emails asking about this deal. Well, I'm sorry to say that it was only valid until 12-31-06.
