Anybody got a picture of a Kimber with Tru-Glo TG231K Night Sights Installed?

What about a picture of a Kimber with AmeriGlo KM-401 Night Sights Installed?

I am thinking about picking up a pair but I see other retailers and distributors using different stock images for them. None of them an installed view. I'd like to know what they actually look like before I buy them.

Your help is appriciated as always.

The ameriglo sights look very similar to the sights that come from the kimber factory on the Warrior model. (check out kimber's website).

I don't know if that'll help you or not, but it should give you a reasonable idea of what things will end up looking like.

The Warriors equiped with Meprolight Tactical Wedge's right? They look similar to those? I can get the Meprolight sights as well but they are almost twice the cost.

every google image that has come up for the model number ameriglo sight you listed looks exactly like the sight in the picture above. I'm working off the interwebs, so there could be error, but they look the same to me.

I also checked the catalog directly on the ameriglo website (pdf format) and the picture they show listed for the sights look like the sights in the picture above as well.

Good luck.

I'll hold out for a day or two and see if anybody posts pics of the TruGlos. Don't want to buy twice. Have some birthday money to spread out over new furnature for the apartment, sights for the 1911 and of course bills. But it will only go so far. Already ordered a magwell and some magwell cut grips.

Give me a day or two, and I will take a picture of my Kimber compact with my new sights on it.

You will want to have a smith put the sights on. I have changed out sights on several of my other pistols, but my Kimber was another story. I have been told that they have some of the tighest fitting sights. I took mine to J&G, cost $35 and they had it about a week.

The gun range near my work has a smith that has done all my sights for me. If he can't then I will drive to Rocklin and get the smith at TDS Guns to do it. The guy's over at TDS have been really great to me. So I like to give them business when I can. However it is a long drive.

Please forgive the cruddy pictures, and yes its cocked and locked. It's my primary carry gun so I just slipped it out of the holster and took a few pictures.

I don't care for the very long front sight, but it draws smooth with out any hang ups. They are great in daylight and are three times brighter than my Trijicon sights at night.

Great looking 1911. Thank you for posting pictures. Which model TruGlo are they?

I ended up ordering the Ameriglo sights. So it will be a while before I can post pictures of mine or even know with absolute certainty what they look like or how well they function. But I am positive your post will help someone else decide which sights to buy. We need more pictures of the various sight setups online to help people make educated choices.

Other than the sights I decided to go in a different direction that the parts I was talking about here.

The sights are now installed, but I am waiting for a set of VZ Frag Grips which hopefully I will like better than the DuraGrips I just tried. The DuraGrips were nice without the finger groove insert I currently run under my rubber Kimber Grips...but I really like the finger groove insert. The VZ Frag Grips are thinner, like my existing grips. So hopefully it fit my hand the way I want it to.

I also ordered a Wilson Combat Extended Slide Release because the JTM one would not and could not be made to fit my Kimber. It caused all kinds of issues. All attems to make it fit only revealed more and more problems with it. It was way out of spec. Live and learn. We'll just have to wait and see if the Wilson Combat version is drop-in or needs fitting as well. Seller was kind enough to refund my money, but my roll pin tube got pretty scratched up. Was a little heart breaking to see my baby get dinged up outside of training. Thankfully roll pin tubes are inexpensive. But they are tricky to install so if I decide to replace it I will have to send it in to Kimber to be on the safe side. I would hate to mess up something else trying to install it.

I decided to stick with the Wilson Combat magazine well I am currently running over the JTM version. The one I ordered got lost in the mail. Got my money back, thankfully. I am not crazy about the fact that the Wilson Combat parts are blued and my gun is matte black. But so far they fit really well. Maybe someday I will get this 1911 refinished in CeraKote. Maybe do the frame in either OD Green or Coyote Tan and the slide and controls in Black.

In any case, once all the parts get here I will take and post some pictures.

An interesting note, my Ameriglo sights were made by Trijicon. They actually have Trijicon written on them.

The same sights with the Trijicon packaging cost $50 more.

The Ameriglo Tritium Night Sights I just received look exactly like the sights on your non-Kimber 1911s.

I have not installed them yet. I took a quick snap shot of them with my cell phone. Not a very good picture, but I figured I would post it anyway. I am very happy with these sights. Tritium is as bright as I remember my Meprolights and Trijicons being in the past. Nice look and feel to them as well. Might sound silly but I was worried, some of the sights out there look really goofy.

My DuraGrip.com Wasp Nest Pattern Magwell Black Grips and JTM Extended Slide Release also showed up. Both look great and I am looking forwards to installing them. My JTM Magwell however is MIA. Post office seems to have lost it. So I am working on getting that sorted out.

Had the sights installed. They look great and work great. I am a 3 Dot guy, so I pick them up much faster than the factory all black sights that came with it. It all comes down to what you are used to.

They were very tight fitting like you said they would be. The guy started off with a new copper punch, and by the time he was done it was just a nub. Unfortunately the slide finish around the front sight area chipped off a little bit. Just a tiny little bit. Nothing touch-up paint could solve. Just makes me lean more and more towards having it refinished someday.

They look slightly different than the sights on the Kimber Warrior. Where those rear sights dip in and have a recessed area the Amerigo sights have a flat surface area in back. From the side however they look identical. I doubt this affects functionality in any way at all. I just thought I should point out that they are not 100% identical like we thought they were at first glance. They are more like 98% identical.

Also the white outline on the front sight is very pronounced, but very subdued on the rear sight. I suppose this would make picking up the front sight easier. I am just not used to it is all.

No pictures yet. Waiting on the VZ Frag grips and Wilson Combat Ext. Slide Release.

Didn't like the Fobus holster for the 1911 as much as I liked it for my Glock. On the Glock I could pull straight up and it came right out despite the cant. On the 1911 it sticks as if being held by retention device. I have to sort of bowl it out of the holster. Which is contrary to my training and doctrine. So I ordered a straight drop holster from BladeTech, which is what I should have done in the first place.

The fobus holster is for sale in the Parts section if you want it (see the link in my signature labeled personal parts and gear).

I have these on my glock and love them. Some reviews for the kimber version said that their front tube fell out.
How may rounds through yours?

With the sights on about 500 or so no problems yet. I wouldn't think they would have you seen how tight the dove tails are?

I think he meant the tube falls out.

Just for those popping in, the sights these guys are talking about are not the same model I was talking about. They are a different style of sight. Not a big deal. I just didn't want people to confuse the two.

I've read the same problem for both types of sites; glow in the dark and the fiber optic. Not a TON of them but more than a few.
