I must say that I'm amazed that SoCal has this many pistolsmiths who work on the Colt "V" spring action...most don't...I didn't even know that Jim Hoag did revolvers

I've certainly never heard anything about Jim being Colt qualified, nor really any of the others that have been mentioned so far. Colt revolvers are extremely tricky to get right.

I'd suggest the OP ask this same question over at Coltforum (http://www.coltforum.com/forums/).

Bain and Davis in San Gabriel !

Had them work on my Anaconda a few years ago. I will never entrust them with another one on my guns.

Evan's Gunsmithing in OC did good work on my Gold Cup.

I wouldn't let Dean Wilkerson work on any Colt I own. Pete

It's ok to work on the "V" mainspring as long as you have a SPARE one when
you break the original:D Been lucky I still have 2 spares! Can only get the Diamondback down to 3lb SA pull,Officers Model 28 ounces.Pete

I'd go to Hoag,Tanaka or Kings for serious 1911 work. Bolsa a big maybe as well as Bain and Davis. Seriously take my advice and never set foot in Mikes gunsmithing. YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Grant Cunningham. Only problem, his waiting list is not open right now, and if you are lucky enough to get on it your number may not come up for close to 3 years. Trust me on that. But, if you want your Colt done right, be patient and have Grant do it. Colt wheel guns are very tricky.

I shoot at Evan's plenty- they had a python of mine for 3 months for a timing issue..never fixed properly. Jim Hoag isn't a revolver guy- if you need 1911 work he is the man! I have also heard not so good things about Bolsa and Bain and Davis. Best advice posted- go to coltforum! Some very knoweldgeable guys over there- you will get sent to the correct people. Wealth of Colt knoweldge over there.
