why is this stuff 'So Good' and is it seriously essential?

also How much are current prices for .40 or 9mm?

One of the reasons I've heard people like it is that it replicates defense rounds fairly well, both in performance and accuracy, so it's a cheaper alternative for practicing with something less expensive.

Last time I bought it (a few months back) I paid $135 for 500 9mm.

Why is it so good? The R&D department does its job.
I don't know if it's essential. I use Ranger in my 9mm, but since I now have a .45, I use Federal HST in that.
As far as price, I couldn't say for .40, but I paid $22 a box for my RA9T.

Some of it is run of the mill crap. The good stuff is ranger-t series and one of the bonded bullet designs.

I agree. I run ranger t series in my 1911. Nice load with good consistent expansion. Ra45t or ra45tp if u want some extra kick
