I have a usp 9mm and a glock 34. I'm going to add a xdm I hear they are very nice and would like to hear what you guys think of them?

They are 100% CA. Legal right ?as long as you buy from someone FTF and the mags. Are block to 10 rds. Right?

Thanks

Or through an 07FFL doing single shot exemptions. I think XD's/XDM's are nice, but the XDM has too many grooves for my taste.

XDM can be had legally in CA.

It's main advantage of XD is higher capacity mag 19 vs. 16 of XD.
Kind of moot point in CA for most.

I prefer XD's grip over XDm. Perhaps I need more time with XDm when I have chance.

You must single shot it through a 07FFL like Valkyrie Arms. You can't just order one online and have it sent to your local FFL. It's not on the Roster so it has to be exempted through single shot method.

I tried my cousin's XDm while in vegas, and was definitely impressed by it. The ergonomics were awesome and I liked the fact it has 19 rds of 9mm in the mag even though it doesn't matter here in CA :(

They seem to be a very popular handgun to single shot. There are more than a few people who come here and post that they dros'd a XDm, every couple of days in the handguns wait support thread.

Ya I wish it had a 5" vs the 4.5 barrel. But I hear they shot very well and I found a Cal Guns member selling the 9mm. xdm for $650. So the price seems good?

I havent shot the XDM but if it is anything like the XD is its an awesome firearm. Personally I think the XDM to get is the 3.8 Compact with the shorter grip. We can only carry 10 anyway so ill gladly take most pistols in single stack if it means more ergonomic grips.

Ya I hear good things about the XDM and from what I hear they are very well made.

The XDM is a very nice pistol. It has a de-cocking bar installed in the take down lever so that you do not have to pull the trigger to field strip it.

The XDM looks badass, but I didn't care for shooting it. It shot nice, but I didn't like the really aggressive feel to it (grooves) and the trigger on the 9mm I was shooting was pretty gritty (had about 300 rounds already through it).

If they ever make a 3.8 XDM .45 then I may consider getting that just to play around with.

I am happy with my xdm9 3.8 and have no complaints. I have shot 1000 rounds fmj and hollow points with no failures at all. If you going to get ibsay go for it, you won't be disappointed.

They fixed the issues that the xd has with feeding swc which is nice but its not my thing. I just cant own plastic guns lol, maybe one will change my mind but right now I just cant do it.

I've got the full sized 9mm XDm and my M&P 9mm sees a lot more range time (as well as most of my other guns). Once the unobitainum status of it is overcome, it is just a large frame pistol.

Do you like the m&p better or the xdm?

Dose the xdm stand up with the usp and the glock?

I do not like plastic framed guns. The Xd looks good, but I wish it was all steel.

They're ok just don't dry fire them during training. We've had a few returns do to broken firing pins and the roll pins that retain the firing pins. I wouldn't trust my life to one.

And in .40 S&W, the magazine capacity is 16, vs. 12 for the XD. Of course even that is moot in California. For now. (Gene is working on that under the radar, it will probably be announced any day now.)

Personally I like the XD(m)'s grip better than the normal XD that I have. One of these days I'll definitely buy one.

I like the aggressive looks of the XDm's plus it made Hand Gun of the Year in 2009 so that alone should speak for itself... :D

XD is a fine pistol. I have put many rounds down mine and it is flawless and accurate.

0 failures, goes bang, makes hole in paper. Period.

Yes, I love the M&P line much more then my XDm. Iím not sure how you want me to compare the XDm to the lock, H&K and M&P so here are a few pictures. Sorry they are not better as I was trying to give a basic size difference. The grip feels thicker than my Glocks and H&K. I like the balance of the M&P better also. To me the XDm feels like a full sized 45acp that only holds 10 rounds of 9mm (or 40s&w). If I could play with all 20 then maybe it would be worth more to me. I do live the fact that the take down is so easy due to the automatic sear disconnect.
With all this said I'm planning to pick up the compact XDm 45acp when it comes out....

Great looking Group. Is there a CA. Legal 5" M&P Model? I know there is the
5" Tac. XD model.

If you have the ability to get the XDm, then getting a 5 inch M&P should not be an issue.
