Is there a different buffer, buffer tube and spring, for the m16,(no trapdoor), A1 and the A2 buttstocks?
Or can I use those parts with an A1 and/or an early one with no trapdoor?

Thanks guys.

Same tube, buffer and spring. There is a shorter screw that is used to attach the stock to the tube.

Thanks Stevie! I'll be sure to get the shorter screw.

I have the a1 stock with the trapdoor, does that one still use the same tube and spring as the A2?

Based on Stevies reply I'm going with a yes. Only a shorter screw with the A1

Yup, A1 & A2 stocks use same spring & buffer.

A1 stocks use the shorter stock screw. Use of the longer screw can cause the buffer to bounce off it early and lead to cycling issues.

Oh - bottom feeder vendors often supply just a regular screw. The appropriate milspec one has a drain hole in it. Little things like these separate the bottom-feeder vendors from the real boys.
