Is it bad that I think pistols without accessory rails look nicer, cleaner, and all around better? Lol anyone else share this feeling? I don't bash rails cause I have my 3rdGen Glock 23. But I sure wish my brothers friend's P226 (which he is selling at a ridiculous cheap price) didn't have rails...

Pics??

I used to think that too until I actually started using the rails for my X300s. All my HD/Class guns will have rails because I believe a light is vital on a weapon that might be deployed in low light situations. When I start IDPA however, I will use 1911s without rails.

Can't stand 1911's with rails.

The only thing I hate to see is rifles and handguns with unused rails. Its like having a purely cosmetic bike rack on your car.

How much is he selling the 226 for? And how can I get a hold of him

Personally I find rails so useful I ignore the aesthetic impact, even on 1911's.

At the range, the extra weight from the rail helps in recoil control, and for a HD pistol being able to mount a light/laser combo is a great benefit. My only railed 1911 is my "go-to" handgun, a Springfield Pro w/rail:

He's selling for $400 but my brothers buying it lol sorry. It's his roommate and he like has excess money to buy buy buy like his $1500 gas remote control car. But now he needs money for bills and my brother offered to take it.

I lik em better without asthetics wise... However if I didn't have to have a Smith drill holes in the dust cover on my Custom II I would probably add one. As someone above said light can be your friend although for the normal perosn less likely. Why be caught without the ability to properly defend yourself?

+ 1 for rails on sidearms!
+2 for holster so you can actually use them

Lights are like tracers. They work both ways...;)

Personally, I don't like rails, but forward serrations are more of a deal breaker for me.

$400 for a 226? I could live with the rail...

I don't mind all the newly released platic guns having rails. But no rails shall come near 1911s, Beretta 92s, Sig 229s and before, Cz 75s, BHPs. My opinion, merely mine.

I much prefer the look of an all steel non-railed gun. But function wise, would rather have the rail. I keep the CZ for action shooting, XD for HD

I like Rails on HD hand guns. For classy hand guns, no rails please. :D

Whoever thinks that tracers are like lights in regard to how they "go both ways" is really missing the point. Tell that to any reputable firearms instructor and let them reprogram your error of thinking that a light on your gun will the reason you lose a gun fight.

I put a rail on my swiss army knife. Is that bad?

I would like to get a new Sig but the rail is a turn off to me. My Glock family are my only guns with rails and I do have a TRL1 for them but I prefer no rails.

My only railed pistol is my go to HD & IDPA gun, a Beretta Vertec.

Wow, I just don't see where the anti-rail group is coming from. I think that a rail is an extremely valuable feature for a firearm. As far as looks go, anything that contributes to the utility of a firearm adds beauty in my mind -- a firearm is a wonderful melding of human ingenuity, engineering, and function.

Every new design semi-auto other than the very small pocket guns I have seen has a rail. There must be exceptions but I cannot think of one offhand.

I go both ways. I like the rail and think it looks good on some guns but bad on others. However, for hd I prefer it for a tlr 1. Plus I like the look of the full length rail on my springfield operator. :) However, my next 1911 will probably be w/o the rail. Easier to find a holster. Most polymer guns don't look bad w rails, but I like the look of the full steel guns more anyways

I don't mind rails except for 1911's. It just looks wrong to me. Like a modernized tactical customization on a historical classic. It'd be like putting gaudy rims on a vintage mustang.

I also don't like rails with a bunch of alligator teeth like on the CZ75 phantom. I bought a CZ75 SP01 and I kinda wish it didn't have three "teeth".

Other than those two exceptions, I don't mind rails asthetically.

Gun is a tool. Rail is a valuable, useful part of that tool

Aesthetics should be a fair way down the list when considering your primary defensive pistol. However, it depends on how you plan to deploy the pistol. It's should be equipped in unison with your deployment/mission needs. For me G19 w/X300 fits the bill on almost every occasion. I'd rather have the option for a light attachment rather than none. YMMV
