I'm getting a 10/22 stainless with synthetic black stock in a week or so.

Tell me about a picatinny rail to mount a scope or red dot or whatever cheapo optic I need. Brand? Raised or not?

Cheapest place to get mags?

do I want the tri mag thing?

Other things I want to put on it. (non tacticool)

trying to get better at target shooting before wasting money on my .308

UTG makes picatinny rails for 10/22 which works perfectly.

That's the one I got, it was exactly what I was looking for.

I found Midway, USA to be the cheapest place to get mags.

Looks like it's on back order now...

And you definitely need to pick up a tri-mag for your 10/22...

I bought mine from member Trob on this forum. Excellent service.

Bit conflicted about the utg rail...

will a better quality one make that much of a difference? or should i just go with the utg?

My 10/22 CAME with the rail for mounting optics....

Tri-mags are tons of fun, I'd say go for it, but they're certainly not necessary.

You'll want an extended mag release, eg the volquartsen one.

Also, do the auto-bolt mod too. :)

In my opinion, it wouldn't make a difference. Perhaps with a higher caliber rifle, it may cause the the screws to become loose in a shorter frame of time. Mine never had any problems and it works exactly the way I wanted it to. The quality is really good and it doesn't feel cheap at all.

The factory 10/22 comes with weaver rails, I believe. I had to purchase the picatinny rails separate.

Seeing as they accept the same rings, I'm not overly concerned.

Curious what sort of height people typically use with the 10/22?

Low mid high profile rings?

Low or mid, depends on your preference. Just keep in mind picatinny rail will have a lot more accessories available to you for mounting. An accessory made for picatinny rail will most likely not fit a weaver rail. So when you're looking for a red-dot for example, make sure it fits the kind of rail that you have.

Agreed with nbkvig2, the UTG works well. Millett has one for twice the amount thats up to you. I have 2 of each and see no better results
