View Full Version : got the mbus today
i won this from ebay 2days ago... 46$ for magpul front and rear back up sight. im using the rear for sure, but im still debating if i should take off the front stock sight, and use the flip up ones... for me, i think the stock front sight is what give the M4 its character.. but wut u guys think?? does anybody have a pic of their m4 with theses front flip up sights?? and im also wondering if ther are any downsides on using these backup sights..

the real ones use steel sight posts and a better grade of plastic..not sure to be exact, just from what i have read. I wouldn't let them touch my rifle, but I am sure a lot of people use them. I would keep your front stock sight....

The PTS (Airsoft) models, though still made by Magpul and distributed at a similar cost, come in a white box with an orange triangle

I got this from another sight...this person was comparing a set of fake magpul mbus to the real ones. After his rear sight fake mbus broke off his 22lrbuild. Ebay has tons of Chinese fakes. For that price you either got a really good deal, fakes, or pts .....I'm sure it should work on a 22lr though.
Take a close look at the bolt heads (real ones say MAGPUL), flash lines, ejector pins etc. Then look at the color.
There's no way these were produced by Magpul on their molds with their polymer.
-The front sight post is PLASTIC instead of STEEL
-The finger tabs on each side of the catch are sharp and have 2 ridges instead of 3
-The pivot pin heads are clean and rounded on the real ones, and gnarly on the tan ones
-The geometry and parting lines of the rib area on the bottom is different
-The parting lines on the sides of the front sight hood ears are different
-Orifice sizes are different and orifices have different ejector pins.
-Windage knobs are slightly different
-The Allan key for the crossbolts is a different size than the one for the real ones.
-They DO have a Magpul logo on them..
-Magpul stamped on screws (real ones)

black one is real, tan is fake
thanx for the info, but i cant complain for the price... pts, fake , or not.. by just lookin at these, they seem pretty sturdy. i guess, well see how long it lasts.
