I have a 20 year old Ruger P89 that hasn't been fired in 15 years. There are a few small rust spots on the barrel. Any suggestions on removing the rust and get it ready to take to the range?

Just shoot it... Built like a rock, actually more like a tank!!

Just clean it, then lube it. As milspec714 said, its built like a tank and will outlive all of us.

A little 0000 steel wool and some gun oil will take it right off.

^ what he said to get it off.

I had the same thing. Just take it out and shoot it, it is a good solid gun. A few rust spots are not going to hurt anything.

Yep, I find it works best to let the oil soak on the rust spots for bit before using the steel wool.

Thanks for the advice - I'll try the steel wool

Use a little clp, and easy on the sanding, it's easy to get out of hand.
