Is anyone aware of places to shoot past 700m in SoCal? I've heard of a 1000m KD range somewhere along I-5 as well as some BLM areas in the High Desert, but nothing specific. I've got a couple long guns that need a challege Angeles Range can't give them ;)

There is supposed to be a 1k yard range in Coalinga.

There was a 1k yard range just a bit west of Bakersfield but those guys prefer to keep it a bit secret, I've happened upon it once while they were out doing a Palma match.

Finally, snipershide.com had a small group of guys who were able to get out to 29Palms for some 1k yard shooting from time to time if they could pull together a group large enough to warrant it.

Other than that, you are probably gonna have to hit the desert on the eastern side of the Kern Co mountains where you get enough BLM land to do some substantial distance.

I've never been there so I can't tell you much about it. If you go let me know how it is.

There's definitely a 1000-yard line at the Coalinga rifle range.

Thanks for the info, guys. The Palmdale range seems like the closest.

I'm tellin you, send a PM to "Big Jon" he's not much past Palmdale and its a gorgeous private range. Pistol range w/shoot house (25yds to 50yds or so) and rifle range w/gong (0-75yd) and unlimited distance rifle range (seriously..wanna shoot a mile..you could do it here...) No fee to shoot, police your brass, pack in/pack out your trash and you'll have a ball. Its invite only tho, so get in touch with Jon so he can dial you in.

I thought Lytle Creek had a long range..

Lytle Creek's long range is only 300 yards. They started work on a longer range years ago, 6-700 yards?, but haven't finished it yet.

I talked to them at the Ontario gunshow last month asking about it. They didn't have any timeframe on getting it finished. Said they were focusing on better benchs and overhead shading of the firing line.

I go out to the BLM land out in the high desert to have at it without the yahoos trying to zero their hunting rifle blazing away with a .338 and not hitting the dang target but once a box of ammo. I practice like I plan to hunt.
