Wonder what BB they use.

There's been a BB for Hi-Point carbines for years. Alright, for at least 2-3 years, for that's when I got my first Hi-Point carbine, I think. It functions similar to an AR BB by replacing the mag release.

I know I own one I bought last year at a show...I just wonder if it's the same BB. Yes they are Ugly, but very functional. People at the range allways snicker until I shoot a happy face on the target. I wouldn't own it if it didn't work outstandingly.

I dont even know if the newer ones are actually ugly. The older ones looked ugly for sure. So they shoot nice?

Can you remove the pistol grip or is it integrated?

I believe the magwell is contained within the grip... so no.

I have 2 of them. one is the old style that i swapped out the stock for a ati stock looks alot better. i also purchased a new style one. both function great out of the box and are cheap. they ise the same action as the pistol but seems to work better in a long gun.

Your stuck with the pistol grip..could allways put a wrap around it. Go featureless.

How would an 18-20 year old go about buying ammo for a pistol caliber carbine like this? If you can prove you own it and are going to use the ammo in a rifle, will they sell it to you?

I've owned mine for over a year and love it, dont expect it to shoot the eye out of a rabbit at 200 yards and you'll love it too and even then that has more to do with the round then the rifle itself. I've shot about 700 or so rounds down the pipe on mine and cant think of one hiccup at all, dependable, accurate, durable and this is all coming from an AR owner.

i might just be an oddball but i'd much rather have another system then to limit myself to one AR lower and have to switch uppers (same reason i'm getting a ruger 10/22 and not a 22lr upper). what if youre at the range with a few people well now they can shoot the 995ts while you run the AR..........

Their pistols use a simple blowback operation, which requires the slide to be heavy, large, and ungainly. Their carbines use the same blowback operation. slide weight is no longer an issue. Some of the most reliable military purposed SMGs use a simple blowback mechanism. its a damn exciting development that Turners is carrying these and at that price. 9 mm or .380 is legal for hunting just about anything. And there are light weight, high velocities ammo choices. Its alot of versatility for the money. Good w/ plinker ammo at indoor ranges, faster ammo for outdoor moderate distance shooting or hunting. Ima copy paste my impressions (just handling, no shooting) from another thread.

I Handled one at turners today, mixed feelings. The finish is pretty horrible and it generally has a build feel of worse quality than their pistols At the same time, it felt nice ergonomically, light and handy (Alot of the outer furniture is a durable but rather unrefined form of plastic/reinforced nylon) the main receiver is some form of zinc/whatever casting, which isn't bad in itself, but the finish is some thin gross process that rivals their pistols in ugly.

Like said though, its ergonomic, light, robust and reliable (from what i've heard) and looks like a ton of fun to shoot.

That it's good to go for a quick hr or two at your local indoor range as well as a decent full day range shooter is a plus. The stock sights are a small peep rear sight similar to the peep setting on an ar-15 carry handle. Oddly I could not figure if the sight pivots to a standard ghost ring, it seems to be precision peep only.

The bullet button mag release is integrated well. Chronograph tests show it can get +p 9mm up to ~1500-1700 fps. With a .380 diameter, you can hunt practically anything on NA with it. There were two left, one in 9 and the other .45. I would get one at that price straightaway, but ATM it fills no niche for me.

It may be a hunt,......No one in Sac had any 995's, one GS had a 4095, and none had (or seen) any of the 45's yet. Lucky for me, my GS agreed to order 5 and I get mine this Saturday.
I wish ammo was cheaper and easier to come by for the .45.....oh well the 9 will be fun and easy for novice shooter to plink with rather than the 10/22.

It will most likely get a barrel shroud like this (below), an ATI stock (if the BB fits), some form of optics and possibly a new trigger. I can stand the feel of the HP triggers.....

So can a person order one in 9mm with a BB and be legal in CA? the other problem is it gun dealer near my house won't even order a HP product. He says they are crap and wants nothing to do with them. Kind of pi$$ed me off I am checking other dealers to see if they will order it or let me buy one and have it shipped to them.

Navy,
Does not supprise me at all. I ran into that quite a few times in CA, WA and NV,....even from a few shops that sold them.

Funny thing is they admit to selling a lot of 995's and no complaints!

Yet the GS(s) that did'nt knock HP were sold out and say they sell out each time they get them in. The GS(s) that nock them are the ones that have them in stock.....even though they are cheaper than the arms they push.

To each their own..............

Not sure what was going on, was it oiled? I have both a C9 and the TS, they have been flawless. As a matter of fact my C9 will out shoot my buddies Sig all day long. As for the TS it is deadly out to 150 yards. But the most fun is letting go just using the laser sight. I always have people asking to check them out at the range.

Sucks for him,.......Some say the same thing about Kimbers. I picked my up my 995ts last week, 300 rounds through it yesterday at the range and not one issue at all!

Range master commented "your a darn good shot" I told him thanks.... but it's more of the firearm than me. He had to ask what it was,...when I told him just a "cheap,... ugly Hi Point" he had to see it,....then asked where to buy one locally.

He was actually very impressed with it. "Light, Accurate, Affordable and Fun to shoot......for under $400 how can you go wrong"
To each their own,....... I am VERY happy and impressed. Anything less than 50 yards, even with the iron sites, is effortless.

If anyone has kids this would be a great must have,..... like a ruger 10/22

At first I was going to buy the .45,......but due to all the negative "Internet" talk and cost (& availability) of ammo, I was cautious and just went with the confirmed 995 (9mm).

I am sure I'll order a .45 in the next month or two.......

So much for saving money,...But at least I get 2 guns for the price of one.

You take the older Hi-point 995 carbine, add green paint and the ATI stock found here. http://www.atigunstocks.com/s-88-stocks.aspx Unfortunately, the ATI stock will not fit the current generation 995TS that Turner's is selling.

Why do you say it wont fit? i thought the only change they made was the stock hence the TS (ts = tactical stock). Also i'd look into how you mod the BB to fit the ATI stock.........

I'm just going by what ATI's website says. "Fits: Most Hi-Point 9mm Carbine. Does Not Fit the New Hi-Point 995TS Due to Manufacturer's New Retaining Clips and New Receiver Shroud. Does Not Fit the 40 Cal. or 45 Cal."

But then they go on to say "Note: Some Minor Modification may be Required. Original receiver cover barrel bolts are required for installation of stock to all Hi-Point 9MM Carbine models, including the 995TS."

So who knows...

Pro mag makes some 15 round mags. They look to be all single stack so no really "hicaps"
