IAW w/ CPC 12020 you must have at least an 18" barrel and an overall length or 26"

It seems commercially available barrels are 18.25" and up (18 1/2" is pretty common). It is probably a bad idea to cut a barrel to 18.001"; a slight error (either when cutting or when the ATF guy measures the barrel) might mean that you get to spend the winter in Folsom or Pelican Bay with Bubba.
Most pistol-gripped (no buttstock) shotguns with an 18" barrel are just at 26".

Barrel length is measured from the front of the bolt to the end of the barrel, when the bolt is in battery.

What's the fascination on this board with prison/Bubba:rolleyes:

The ATF just picked up a guy around here for having a cut down barrel

18" barrel!

And even a micron Under and you're off to the pokie....that is so truly why soooooooo many cut at least 18.25 or 18.5....play it safe; cut lonnnnnnnng.
