I understand that it is currently legal to build a ar-15 with a non listed reciever provided that the magazine is attached in a manner that it
can only be removed with a tool.

However there is a new listing on the CA DOJ site here:
http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/awnotice1106.php

Does this mean that this will no longer be the case and that the current loophole will be closed? It's all legalise so I can't make heads or tails of it.

Nothing has changed since last year.

There is new 'proposed' regulation. It has not been adopted yet. It has been discussed to death already.

Search is your friend.

The new regulation change does nothing for rifles built with no evil features. You can have your detachable mag with no evil features. The regulation change only effects the "fixed mag" versions.

But remember, nothing has changed yet, so as of now you can have your fixed mag kit and all of your evil features.

This is only a proposed reg change and it probably will not pass anyway. It is very poorly written.

Why are there so many subjects about this? DOJ impants to confuse us? Because it is pretty much common sense that it is just an FYI on their intentions.

I've been thinking the same thing. The DOJ needs to learn to search! ;)

I think some people actually still believe the DOJ has some authority and standing in this state and they actually believe that the DOJ's statements have some weight. Having dealt with them on this issue for nearly a year now, we all know better.

I can't believe that these people would prefer to have rifles with no pistol grips and detachable magazines of over 10 rounds capacity (assuming preban mags) rather than a fixed 10 rnd rifle with a pistol grip. It just boggles my mind the way they think.

All they forced me to do was take off the evil features and go detachable mag, I like it much more anyway.

I have a related question. Is a bayonet lug an "evil feature" in cali? The lists I've seen on this site are just: pistol grip(s), flash suppressor, and collapsible/folding stock. I'm planning to order an RRA upper half w/ a muzzle brake instead of a suppressor and go gripless (w/ an SRB - thanks Eric!) and A2 stock but the standard front sight will have the bayonet lug. Can this just be removed? I'm away from my rifle at the moment so can't look at it.

A bayonet lug is not an evil feature.

Ok, that's cool. Its just an ironic handle in light of the situation.

I say lets give newbies here the benefit unless proven otherwise. I have been spread the Gospel of OLL to mnay MMA and Martial Arts forums as well as folks I meet at gunshows, the range, bookstores (looking at SWAT and SOF mags) and Big5 gun section. As soon as I know someone is remotely interested in evil rifles I point them here..Many of these folks are not forum savey...

So please give newbies a break..

:)

Thank you!

I thought the name up from playing a video game, Mechwarrior 2. In the game, you had two wingmates piloting giant war robots, but they were so stupid all they did was draw fire. There was a feature to name them so I named one
Capt. Decoy and the other Lt. Diversion:D

I love the Ackbar pic, that's awesome!

And yes, I am a real person and not a plant, do a google search.
