I was searching for Ferfrans in TITLES here on Cal Guns and only got 1 thread. I was hoping to find more info about this rifle than just 1 thread dedicated to it... so I guess I will just share my experience to help others...

I was lucky enough to test one with Falcon this weekend. Another guy brought his LWRC piston and shot the LWRC, then the Ferfrans.

For me, it was much less muzzle rise than my Stag 2HT AR15. I mean NO muzzle rise, and I am not an advanced carbine operator. Voodoo showed us how the BCG in the Ferfrans stays super cool, while the LWRC was hot to the touch. He also demonstrated the selective gas system and how easy it was to remove the piston. He also mentioned that the entire rifle is mil-spec (except for the piston system yet to be approved) and all this for under $2k.

I also met one of the owners of Ferfrans, which was neat. Suffice to say that after seeing how this thing operates in person, and how well it shoots first-hand, 3 of us were sold on it. The other guy is going to sell his LWRC and I am going to sell my Stag to fund a Ferfrans.

No, they make a CA semi version. The SOAR version is full auto not 3 rd burst. Great platform, very reliable.

My bad dude, I changed the title for you so you understand the point of the thread... although that might take a while.

:D A Ferfrans and a souped up RIA 1911 would make a good loadout.

Hey mike, just wanted to point out that the LWRC will be cool to the touch as well... All gas pistons are inherently like that. The main difference was when I shot them on full auto. The LWRC was much harder to stay on target than the ferfrans was. The reduced cyclic bolt of the ferfrans really helps.

Sorry to dig up a somewhat old thread, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of these vids. While cleaning up a hard drive I noticed a few more clips from a SOAR torture test session from a few years ago...

not to bring the fun level in this thread down but what makes this rifle unlike the billion other ones just like it? From other people's comments I take it, it's made in the P.I.

I dont even think the ones here are made in the P.I. I could be wrong,
never the less, I want one for that association. Same reason people want a COLT, plenty of AR platforms just as good, maybe even better, for usually less money, but sometimes you just HAVE to have a Colt.

Similar reasons for me.

I cant justify the price to be honest. But if I had more $ $ $ than I knew what to do with, Id buy one in a heart beat.

This counts as C&R, right? Mailorder away ;)

this is where me an my good ol buddies at the ATF dont see eye to eye ;)

Stash, does your stag have a comp on it? If not, that could be the reason as the SOAR comes with a comp. I have a Battlecomp on my LWRCi and it definitely stays on target after each shot. I've also reduced the cycle rate on it by installing a Red Sprinco buffer spring.

In contrast, I don't have a comp on my middy DI gun but I've also reduced the rate by use of Spikes ST-T2 buffer and Blue Sprinco spring, this mod noticeably reduced muzzle rise as well.

I'm not sure how the Ferfrans BCG can stay cooler than the LWRCi since they are both GP systems. BCG on both should stay cool.

Anyway, I'd like to shoot a Ferfrans just to see what it feels like compared to my ARs. Although I am not so sure if it'll be much different in semi-auto as other well made (read: optimized) semi-auto GP systems like the MR556 or LWRCi.

Hey HK35, thanks for the post... I have since sold my Stag 2T and bought a Spikes lower, RifleGear upper with a PWS muzzle brake on it (see photos below). I still have not aquired the Ferfrans just due to cost and not really needing 2 rifles at this time, but I still have my eye on it. I have shot with Falcon a ton of times since my original post, and seen a bunch of students bring their Ferfrans with them to shoot, and they were all very happy. It' just one of those things you just have to try I guess.
