NRA-ILA ELECTION 2006 RE-CAP 11/09/06
NRA-ILA Grassroots Alert Vol. 13, No. 45
On November 7, 2006, the American electorate took out its frustration and anger on the Republican Party and turned over control of Congress, not to mention governors' mansions and majorities in several state legislatures, to the Democrats. Importantly, however, on a day that saw voters expressing dissatisfaction over conduct of the war, over political corruption and over competency to govern, Americans cast their votes for record numbers of pro-gun candidates, both Democrat and Republican... Very good alert. The Democrats took control by a razor thin majority because the Republicans are way way way of their game right now. It won't take much to have the same dissatisfaction with the Republicans that put that all powerful smile on Pelosi's face this week to reverse direction and send both houses and the presidency back to the Republicans in two years and the Democrats back to another 12 years in the wilderness.
I'm glad the NRA is around to remind them of that!
Personally, I hope this does both sides good. The Republicans need to raise their game and give us a strong candidate in 2008 and the Democrats have to learn not to screw with our guns and/or raise our taxes if they want to stay in the game.

I've been worring a lot about a future AWB during the next couple years. The fact that a number of the new Democrats are from pro-gun states and/or are pro-gun themselves puts me at ease a little.
However, we still need to keep a close eye on them. Government is not to be trusted. Ever!

Like Chris Rock said:
"We don't gun control! We need bullet control! Because if a bullet cost $5000, you'd think twice about busting a cap in someone's ***. 'Man, I would blow you ****ing head off if I could afford it. I'm going to get me two jobs and start saving up!'" :D

Actually, that already exists - I think by an Executive Order from Bill Clinton. Ammo manufactured for use by the military isn't sold to the public unless it doesn't meet military specs for some reason (AFAIK).

Another reason to love the guy.... I guess it is better for the tax payer to pay to store any surplus rather than sell it to the citizens.
