We can all agree that Lockyer wasn't a big friend to gun owners, and now Brown is coming in. We do know that he supported AB50, likes microstamping, etc so this isn't a good start. Of course, he's not where new gun laws come from, but he does have the ability to make our lives either easier or harder. That being said, who do you think will end up being worse for us: Lockyer or Brown?

In one of Brown’s radio commercials he said “my opponent thinks people should be able to own .50 caliber military assault weapons.” He made it part of his platform. I am scared of what is going to happen. From what I have seen of him in the past he is an activist. I think he will go out of his way to jerk us around.:(

I don't really know for sure. I honestly don't know that much about Brown other than him being anti-gun, but Lockyer bugs me for other reasons. He recently filed a lawsuit against several automakers for causing global warming.

Yeah, that one bugged me too. I had a metaphor for a gun manufacturer getting sued for its products used in crimes; suing Ford and Jack Daniels for a drunk driver killing somebody. But Lockyer just about fulfilled that! If you can go after the gun manufacturer for the gun in the crime, why not go after the car manufacturer that he used to flee the scene? GM and Ford know darn well that a number of their cars do indeed get used to commit crimes. WTF are they supposed to do about it?

Because Lockyer was basically as bad as it could get already I don't see how we could expect anything to be worse with Brown. Things will continue to be bad. On the upside though, at least Brown appears to have better taste in ties than Lockyer :D!

May Mr. Brown have better taste in Deputy Attorney Generals as well!

Brown, I believe, has the potential to be better for us.

Lockyer always stuck me as a "me first", then "party first", then "I could give a excrement" kinda guy. Now, I dont think you can get as far in politics as Brown has with out a healthy measure of the first of those qualities, I think he's enough of a mavrick to buck the second on occasion, and I think in place of the third he brings a certian moral sense (quirky and transitory at times) of right and wrong, egalitaranism, and afinity for rights and personal freedom that Lockyer lacks.

I think if we can get Brown to understand how incredibly shallow and cosmectic a lot of the AW regs are and how they're really not at all connected to real law and order, he would be inclined to exercise the discretion of his office in a fashion that would minimize the laws interference with the activities of the law abiding. I think over all if we work to educate him about what's stupid, burecratic, and opressive of the law abiding, and further more what measure would be effective against the criminal, I think he could be very good for us.

Brown just strikes me as the kind of guy that would prefer to be a successful AG by being just and effective, rather that by being calculating politically and using the power of the office to pander effectively to special interests for money and votes as Lockyer has done.

i think we are screwed by either one. there is no better choice for us. since it was allready decided before the election that brown was gonna win. it kinda made me wonder about the electoral process we have today.
