Hi everyone, does anyone have any experience with TM lowers in .308? I was also wondering if there are any FFL's in the so cal area carry them? Thanks!

No one local carries them, you can have them sent to Rifle Gear on Costa Mesa. The owner is on here and in that thread above.

I have one that the DPMS LPK and upper fit on perfectly.

I have not seen the TM 308 lower in person yet, but their .223 lowers are perfect! Nicest AR-15 receivers I have seen in forged lower. I bet the .308 lowers are the same great quality.

That is sexy. Can't wait to get mine in a few weeks.

Is it just me, or does the ano not match the uppers' ano at all? Maybe the lighting? The TM actually looks somewhat blue

Mine was an early one and I think that they've changed the anodizing since then. I got mine on their blem sale and I'm not one to worry about color matching.

I've machine a few of their TM-10 80%'s and have a few more of them sitting next to me. (already sold)

Great product with tight tolerances. EDM wire cut mag wells. 80% needs no reg or DROS. Just had a GB on them so I'm kinda biased. :D

I have one of their first lowers, serial number in the low 40's. It has been great, my only complaint is that LR-20 mags are tight and don't drop free. Ano is nice, I have beat mine up and it shows little to no wear.

I picked up one of the early blems, and i think their QC is obsessive compulsive. Im positive their production runs are perfect, and for the price you cannot go wrong. It may be a while till I build mine since I have a new shooter on the way.

Transfer fee would kill the deal for me...

Wish some FFL would carry .308 TM Lower! All I see in LGS are more expensive CMMGs.

The first ones were 6061, one of the main reasons they changed to 7075 was to better match anodizing. They also opened up the magwell a little. I have several and I love them all :)

Just order it and have it shipped to your local FFL. I'm picking up my two lower AR15 tomorrow and the 308 is due to arrive on the 14th according to the tracking number. :punk:

Its a shame no local ffl in the oc area carries their lowers.

I have 3 .308 AR-15's that I built at home:

A DPMS S/S 24" bull barrel (M110 clone) on a TM lower.

A DPMS 18" bull on an 80% DPMS lower (not a factory available item)

And currently, I am finishing up on a 16" Armalite M-4 .308 on an KT Ord. 80% lower (it takes modified M-14 magazines/ the AR magazine release slot cut).

I just wanted to point out for all of the home builders (not home assemblers.....LOL !!),
that the TM 80% AR jig will work ONLY with their brand of lower.

I modified mine to do Armalite, DPMS & the Iron guys' lowers --- all using the same jig.

It wasn't really that hard to do and definitely advisable for all of you machinist types who intend on doing more than one type of lower.

Those look GREAT; I just received two more TM 80% 308 lowers and the taper on the back is new. I like it, but I didn’t mine the beefy look before they were doing that taper. I have three generations of TM .308 lowers, if I missed any let me know I want them all, but I’ll say they just keep getting better!

I had the same problem. I just shaved some material off the mags and they now drop freely.

I, too, have one of the early models. The color is off, but their newer ones look a lot nicer. With my DPMS upper the lower is just a slightly lighter shade of gray than the upper. Still, it's hard to really notice.

So correct. 6061 just doesn't anodize the same color no matter what you do. It is just a tad blue VS 7075.

Yes we did add a taper too. We had a lot of people that wanted to use an ASAP plate and as well this taper better matchs end plates and A2 stocks then before. Some people were having a hard time with transitions with the blocky buffer tower. Plus ASAP plates are just cool, I use them for all my collapsible stocks personally.

With the 7075 we are able to make it a true black and it won't match exactly but unless you dip 2 parts at the exact same time it wont ever match exactly, should be good to go though.

Thank you guys for the compliments though and if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

I have one of the 5.56 ones. Color Looks good, but I couldn't get the fill to stick, guess the markings were not machined deep enough. Oh well I didn't bother to keep re-color filling them. I think they make a deeper version now?

With BCM upper, the color is very close!

Best part is that the lower was only $90 even during the big scare / shortage a couple years ago.

Maybe some day I'll build a 308, but I dunno, with 6.8 already fitting on my lowers why I should bother.

I want one of their tm-15 camo kits, but I need to finish my tm-10 first.

I had the same problem. I just shaved some material off the mags and they now drop freely.

I started using some pretty fine grit sandpaper but didn't get much results, I think I need to get something with a lower grit to remove more material. What areas of the mag did you sand down? (I'm assuming you're using LR20 mags.) Did you target the "ribs" of the mag or the actual body?

Rekrab

I'll have to go home and check, but I believe the problem area was the back of the mag. I took a mil or so off the raised portion with a file and it was good to go.

But yeah, sandpaper probably won't be enough.

Rekrab

OK, just double-checked. I shaved the raised portion on the back. I also shaved the corners on the back. Take it down little by little but focus more on the corners.
