I am a noob in guns and just started shopping for my first gun. Id appreciate any advice.
After a bunch of research online, I am currently interested in getting a CMMG QUEBEC-A .22 rifle. It seems a good rifle that allows me to get started using inexpensive .22 ammo but also allows me to upgrade to 5.56mm in the future easily.

I am, however, having a difficult time finding a store that sells a CA legal CMMG QUEBEC-A .22 rifle. It seems that QUEBEC-A only comes with 25rd magazine. My understanding is that it is illegal to import a magazine with greater 10rd capacity into CA, even for rimfire .22 rds. When I do a search on google shopping for CMMG QUEBEC-A, all the results come with 25rd magazine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

CMMG does make 10 round mags. No matter who you buy it from it has to be shipped to your local FFL. Buy the rifle directly from CMMG. I sure all it would take is one phone call and they'll swap the mag out for you.

Thanks AlbcAlbrr. I've contacted CMMG already. Unfortunately they don't ship to CA.

Mark's Armory sells to CA. You have to find a local FFL/gun shop to transfer at.

10 rd mags. CMMG uses the Black Dog pattern magazines. There might be better prices elsewhere.

Also where are you at? That will help members here point you to a local shop.

Go to a place like Riflegear and buy the parts to build yourself an AR lower, then buy the upper directly from CMMG. The only thing they don't ship to California are complete rifles and lowers. I've ordered uppers from them.

Thanks guys!. Mark's Armory's price seems reasonable. I am glad that I asked here because Google shopping didn't show Mark's Armory.

I live in Cupertino, CA. It's near San Jose.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=320596 There are a couple of cool vendors in Milpitas who can advise you on what's best for you. Build your own lower vs buying one complete vs buying a whole rifle. Lots to chew on. Read the stickies on how to own one legally, how to build one, etc. Understand the Assault Weapons definition with the Flowchart.
