Just got done looking at the CA Sec. of State pages, here's some things I noticed. By my calculation...
- The Republicans now hold 31 out of 80 Assembly seats - 38.75%
- Of the 20 Senate seats that were up, Republicans won 7 of them.
- Senate District 34 - "A" rated Lynn Daucher (R) beat "A-" rated Lou Correa (D) by only 13 votes - 38,679 to 38,666
- Assembly District 30 - "A+" Endorsed Nicole Parra (D) beat "C" Danny Gilmore (R) by only 1,585
- For all CA state & federal offices, NRA endorsed 72 candidates, 68 of which were elected - a 94.4% success rate.

The real news in California election results is the money spent and the debt accumulated. This is going to hurt in the future because this just putting taxes on a credit card.
California's bond rating is going to go down, and thus, the cost of the bonds will be more than currently stated. Bond ratings are all about revenue versus current debt. If revenue increases, there is a better chance of paying the bond holders on time. Thus, bond ratings go up and interest rates go down.
Some of you may wonder what happened to CA's bond rating crisis of several years ago. What happened was that revenue recovered largely from property tax increases. Investment money shifted from stocks into real estate which fueled the significant price increases and, more importantly, high turn-over rates which reset the Prop 13 tax rates. Right now, commercial property is hot.
The problem looming is the predicted, upcoming real estate bust will lower revenue. If the bust is bad, we will be back at near junk bond ratings and near bankruptcy again. I do not think it will be that bad compared to other states without CA's coastline and attractive weather, but it will be one to watch simply because we are picking up debt bigtime.
Of course the standard disclaimer applies... this is all second to 2nd amendment rights in CA which is the REAL issue.
Sure hated to see Sen.Tom & Sen.Pooch lose.

Hey. What happened to my "Parra is kinda hot" comments? My posts got deleted? Was I deleted for calling her kinda hot or was it a consequence of site maintenance?

I'm sad to see the left-wing, tax-raising hottie get elected over an honorable ex-CHP officer. At least my assembly member (Mike Villines) is now the Assembly Minority Leader.

My question though is why did he get a C and she get an A+ from the NRA? That is my question. Maybe he wasn't the choice I thought he was. Again, it really doesn't matter because she holds this strange spell over me and had I even been able to vote in that one, I might have voted my mid-section instead of my upper section. I know, I am a disgrace.

It looks like our favorite rep, Torrico, that made the spotlight with his proposed ammo ban retained his seat by a healthy margin.
It's sad, but there was a time when his opponent would have had a chance to win, but it looks like the Nisei (sp?) have long since disbanded from my area.
I thought there were enough engineers in my area to vote Nishimura in. I suppose there are much more who vote along party lines or by name, no shock.

Stator, I agree with you. We're not far enough removed from our recent debt crisis to take on the kind of bond load we just approved. It's a disgrace, and demonstrates how short our memory is and how narrow-minded we are when it comes to politics.

The one cool thing about this kind of debt is that it doesnt follow you. When you decide its too much you can just "declare Bankruptcy" and move out of the state and leave the bill with all the suckers.

In our case, it would be more like moving out and "declaring prosperity"... the bankruptcy stays right here in California with the Socialist suckers.

Nicole Parra is pro-gun and voted pro-gun. That's why NRA backed her.
NRA is a sole-issue organization.
NRA loses all credibility if it supports a newbie with a supposed, approximate progun attitude instead of an incumbent that had worked with NRA and/or definitely voted 100% pro-gun. The number one goal of politicians is to get reelected and NRA tries to show how they can help in that...
BTW, many many cops are not as pro-gun as one might think. Perhaps he failed to answer NRA questions, etc. NRA does appear like to have progunners opposing each other in a race but for whatever reason NRA didn't have a good feel for him and did have a VERY good feel for Nicole Parra.
BTW - it was another useless P.O.S. CHiPie who shipped out to New Orleans post-Katrina and beat up the old lady and took her gun. He shoulda been sent back in a bag...

No, not him. Sorry about ambiguity, was writing quickly. Just finished editing my post for clarity...
I was just trying to say "CHP" not necessarily equal to "honorable" or "progun".
It's also a retired CHP guy that works for Assemblywoman. Rebecca Cohn (D, distr. 24) who wrote an antigun bill (AB98, which dealt with rejiggering of CCW-related laws but was not passed). I spoke with him once and he was pigheaded.
BTW, many many cops are not as pro-gun as one might think.
Amen..Just look a the top cop here in Ca.

Yes, lets. FINALLY someone that knows Jerry Brown's anti-gun record. Do you know of an anti-gun vote made by Brown?
He's mayor of Oakland and a former governor, so he has had zillions of opportunities to attack the Second Amendment.
'cause I can't find one.
