Lol, $22 shipping for just 3 boxes of this stuff. Kind of kills the deal.

Good deal if local or if gunstores/walmart match the price cci would make more sales.

For those of you in the Sacramento area, River City Gun Exchange has CCI on sale $16.99/500 (http://findnsave.sacbee.com/Local-Ads/a1101108/River-City-Gun-Exchange?adid=10784743). I don't think you'll find it much cheaper offline.

Nice! Now I can stop by there and pick some up next weekend before I head out of town from the Ontario airport, since the store is literally down the street from the airport. Otherwise, the drive out there just for the ammo is too far for me.

why would you pay more and waste time/gas on it when you can get it for 15.99 box total online? I never understand some people.

You only get the free shipping when order by case of 10 boxes. If they can ship free for each individual boxes, then yeah, that's sweet deal.

Just buy the entire case, and sell off what you don't plan on using. That's what I'm going to do... I just bought that case of 10 bricks from Dunns, and I'll be selling off about half of it. Anyone want 5 bricks?

...everyone wants a whole case.

but most cannot afford a $160 case purchase...that's just financial reality for most these days

Show me a place that sells .22LR bulk ammo (preferably CCI or Federal) for $15.99 and with shipping that costs less than $10, and then I'll buy online.

Most places I've seen, shipping costs the same as 1 box of bulk ammo, or a lot more if you buy more (weight).

I showed you already. They have federal and cci at that price, take your pick. It makes sense to buy a case, you will use it someday, or sell the extra at cost, plenty will buy some from you.

Just to pile on, the Blazers from Dunn is the 500 pack, which has the rounds separated in boxes of 50. I prefer these to the 525 bulk packs, because the rounds are in nicer shape and the boxes of 50 are much easier to carry. Also the little plastic trays are an easy way for me to keep track of how many rounds I fired.

On the other hand, if funds are limited and I can only afford a box or two, Ammo Bros price of $15.99 can't be beat.

In the big picture of things we are looking at $0.034 a round ($15.99/525+tax) vs. $0.032 a round($15.99/500)! Either way .22lr are just awesome to shoot, no matter if you "over-paid" at $0.6/round or got the "great deal" at $0.03/round. Twenty bucks still equals a great day out shooting!

yup..the federal bulk packs from Dunns are not individually seperated. I use both, but I do find the CCI leave more lead in the barrel throat... versus the copper flashed Federal. Accuracy is roughly equal as far as I've seen. They do have a good deal on normal velocity CCI semi-target ammo as well, but its more $. http://www.shopdunns.com/products/2233/cci_standard_velocity_22lr_500rd_case/

Do you know if the CCI Blazer stuff is consistent in velocity? I notice that with Federal, Remington, and Winchester that the rounds are completely inconsistent. It will sound like some rounds are stronger than others, and some will sound supersonic, and some will sound subsonic..

Convenience.

That's why you gotta buy your ammo before your planned range trips :) Don't you keep a stock of ammunition for all the calibers you own? I never wait before depleting my current stock of ammo before I begin reloading or purchasing more to keep it up to count.

Oh, I have plenty of .22 right now (which I bought at Big5 on sale).

The above was just a possible scenario of convenience that could theoretically apply to me.

But the times when I get ammo at Big 5, I'm usually in the area anyway, so it's still convenient for me. The only stuff I purchase online so far is .303 Prvi

Ah, I buy all of my ammo that I don't reload online. It's almost always cheaper to do so, even with shipping charges. The great deals are the ones that offer free shipping in combination with a coupon, such as GanderMountain deals. $20 off of $100 purchases, with free shipping regardless of order size is a GREAT deal. And their prices on ammo are already great.

+1 on the dunns deal...I bought my case about a month ago...great deal. Blazer might not be the best ammo around...but for fooling around its nice at 3.2 cents a round.

They aren't bad..but none of this stuff is match quality.

Not that my sample is worth much, because I am not a proficient shooter yet and I've only really run two brands of bulk through my CZ, but:

I've shot Winchester 36gr HP HV copper plated and the CCI Blazer 40gr LRNs, and my best target so far was done with the CCI. I would definitely buy some again. Remington Golden turds, not so much. (I've used them in other guns. :puke: And there was a time when my buddy who was shooting next to me got a royally annoying case-head separation in his Savage 29 A. )

Unless I'm looking at the wrong Dunn's item, this is not the same as the OP, these are 500 rnds per box, the OP is 525 per. But even despite that, Dunn's is the better deal due to free shipping.

Based on case:

Dunn's = $0.032/rnd (5,000 rnds)
Natchez = $0.0395/rnd (5,250 rnds - shipped to SoCal)

You want the 500 round per box blazers. They are packed 50 to a box separated (sitting in a plastic tray). You won't get the occasional "dinged" up round as you do in the 525's
